May Morning Sail and Breakfast 1 May 2023

Get yourself down to Medley by 9 am on Monday 1 May for a brisk (we hope) short race for a bottle of fizz or box of chocolates, and a slap-up breakfast cooked by a crack team of ex-Commodores (see last year's brigade above) Full breakfast £6 for adults, £3 for children. Continental breakfast £4. Floral bonnets welcome (but not compulsory).

Open Day

Our Open Day, when we attract new members by taking them out for a short sail, will take place on Saturday 20 May. If you would like to volunteer to take visitors out either in your own boat or one of the club boats, between 11 am and 4 pm, please contact the Membership Secretary. Everyone is welcome just to come and chat to prospective members, especially if they bring cake!

Medley Moth Bowl

The annual Medley Moth Bowl, our open meeting for Moth sailors from around the country, takes place on Saturday 10 June. Look out for the Notice of Race on the website for details. We are very much in need of volunteers to make and serve coffee and pastries for our guests on arrival, lunch for all competitors and tea at the end of racing. If you are willing to help please contact the Commodore.

Medley branded hats

Assuming we have enough interest (a minimum of 10), Clubhouse Manager Damion Young plans to submit an order in mid-May for 100% light brushed cotton baseball caps with an embroidered logo as shown here. He will put an order form on the bar this weekend, asking for the number and colour of hat(s) that you would like to order. You can also complete this online form:
https://forms.gle/jRcCx1dQmVvL7FjY7 . The cost will be £13 each, which will cover the cost of cap, embroidery and postage. We will charge this to your galley bill along with the charge for teas, crisps, etc.

Underused boats

There are some boats in the compound that have not been used for some time. Some are not that well protected from the elements and are starting to suffer from exposure.  The Wednesday crew have helpfully bailed out, righted and put covers back on (so far as possible) from time to time but there is a limit to why they can do.
Can members please check on their boats regularly and make sure they are adequately protected.
Quite a few new members are looking to buy or upgrade boats. If you are interested in selling your boat (or perhaps lending for a season if not able to part with it quite yet) do put a notice on the board or the WhatsApp or email groups.
