L'ÉQUIPE-CHOC ENGLISH COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER

April 2023
Dear Readers,

Today, we are given the opportunity to be more connected with the world than we ever have before. This is a wonderful thing, and an invitation to practice authenticity and mindfulness. Unfortunately, what we are not always aware of is that the portrait of humanity that we see through selfies and screenshots is not real life; it is a curation.

The term “in real life” or IRL emerged in the early days of the internet to distinguish between offline and online, positioning offline as the “most real”. However, as the internet has progressed by leaps and bounds, and we have continued to embrace the digital, it seems misguided to dismiss online interactions as “unreal”.

A more fluid organization of online and offline life has transformed our learners; research has highlighted its numerous benefits: increased flexibility and autonomy, higher potential productivity and greater balance between work and life. On the other hand, it is suggested that the hybridization of learning spaces might have major critical implications on health, career, personal growth and relationships.

It all boils down to balance; education is a lifelong process and we must always think that our learners will have to be online and offline citizens. The key is to remain as authentic as possible, while keeping a balance between our two-pronged reality .

All our best!

Julie & Micheline

BREAKING NEWS

MEQ French Second Language FGA

Recherche de ressources: Ententes de service

Here is an important message from the French Second Language department.

à l’adresse courriel fls-fga@education.gouv.qc.ca
au plus tard, le vendredi 12 mai 2023.
