Bettina Drake PhD, MPH, has been chosen as one of the top 10 finalist for the William H. Danforth St. Louis Confluence Award to highlight the community-engaged research projects supported by PECaD.

Rubi Gonzales has been accepted into the SciPol Scholars-in-Residence Program (SPSR) designed to provide a combination of hands-on training and experiential learning for National Science Policy Network (NSPN) members in the world of science policy – from academia, to nonprofits, to publishing, to government. Rubi will be working closely with an external organization in science policy to develop a project that aligns with her goals in equity.

Vicki Singer is transitioning into a newly created role of Accessibility Coordinator for the Division of Public Health Sciences. In this new role, Vicki will use her lived experience, her training from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals, and her certification as a Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies to guide us towards best practices in disabled participant inclusion in research, community engagement, sensitivity trainings, and more.

Kayla Getz, PhD has been selected as a recipient of the 2023 AACR Women in Cancer Research Award.

"Screening for prostate cancer has been shown to lower the risk of dying of the disease. When found in early stages, prostate cancer has a 100 percent five-year survival rate."
