Webinar on community-based interventions to control vector-borne diseases
The webinar "Community-Based Interventions to Control Vector-Borne Diseases" presented concrete field actions. The key messages were the same in both cases: sustainable and effective community-based interventions should consider different critical elements such as resources, political context, community and stakeholder participation, multi-sectoral involvement and collaboration.
WEST NILE, SINDBIS AND USUTU VIRUSES: EVIDENCE OF CIRCULATION IN MOSQUITOES AND HORSES IN TUNISIA
In Tunisia, surveillance of the West Nile virus (WNV) is based solely on the surveillance of human neuroinvasive infections and no study has reported mosquito-borne viruses (MBVs), nor has there been any thorough serological investigation of anti-MBV antibodies in horses. This study therefore sought to investigate the presence of MBVs in Tunisia.
SARS-COV-2 IN ANIMALS: SUSCEPTIBILITY OF ANIMAL SPECIES, RISK FOR ANIMAL AND PUBLIC HEALTH MONITORING, PREVENTION AND CONTROL
This article assesses the risk of SARS-CoV-2 in animals, including its impact on animal and public health, prevention measures, and the importance of monitoring susceptible species. It provides a thorough overview of the current situation of SARS-CoV-2 in animals, emphasizing the need for ongoing research and surveillance.
RAPID RISK ASSESSMENT TECHNICAL GUIDELINES FOR ANIMAL HEALTH
These technical guidelines on rapid risk assessment provide a simple and practical tool that assists decision-makers in veterinary departments in conducting qualitative rapid risk assessments on the emergence, incursion and/or spread of animal health events caused by infectious diseases.
EVOLUTION AND EMERGENCE OF MOSQUITO-BORNE VIRUSES OF MEDICAL IMPORTANCE: TOWARDS A ROUTINE METAGENOMIC SURVEILLANCE APPROACH
The article describes the different ecological scenarios that can lead to the emergence of viral diseases, and the virus adaptation process required for the establishment of a new transmission cycle. The study also highlights the interest of using next-generation sequencing and computational methods for the discovery and genomic surveillance of mosquito-borne viruses in their ecosystems.
