Missional Activity Grant: more churches encouraged to sign up

It’s hoped the Diocese of Sheffield’s Missional Activity Grant will help more people to grow their churches by starting new things.

This grant offers an investment of consultation time and an injection of finance of up to £500 to help develop mission pathways. The focus of the grant is to help churches think through their missional activities.

Previously, more than £37,000 was distributed to around 70 churches during the pandemic when a similar online grant was available. This new grant aims to replicate the ease of access and support of the online grant.

Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Committee (DMPC)
The DMPC membership has been renewed this year, but four places remain for lay representatives, two from the Archdeacon of Sheffield & Rotherham and two from the Archdeaconry of Doncaster. If you are interested in serving the Diocese in this way please contact Elizabeth Lunt (Elizabeth.lunt@sheffield.anglican.org) for a nomination form. Nominations need to be proposed and seconded by members of Diocesan Synod, but you do not need to be a member of Synod to stand (a list of members can be obtained from Elizabeth).

The Committee meets six times per year usually via zoom and its role is:
  • To consider and develop mission opportunities within the Diocese and how these can be encouraged within existing pastoral frameworks
  • To review pastoral provision within the Diocese considering the needs of the archdeaconries, deaneries, benefices and parishes, and balancing the requirements with the resources available
  • To develop or respond to plans which address the provision of churches and ministry across the Diocese
  • To act as a consultative body for proposed Bishop’s Mission Orders
  • To progress pastoral church building schemes and the closure of places of public worship as required
  • To consider and make recommendations for the use of the income and expenditure in the Diocesan Pastoral Account
Deadline for nominations is 12 May.

A Service of Healing and Wholeness for our Wellbeing
St Mark's Broomhill   |   7PM
An invitation to pause, to consider what prayer we need for our wellbeing and ministry and to hold each other in prayer.  Lasting about 45 minutes, this informal service of readings, music and time for reflection, anointing and prayer is offered as an opportunity to reflect on how God’s purpose for us all is a life of wholeness, what we need for our wellbeing and to explore what we might need to change. We hope to offer a sacred space where we can be restored and strengthened in mind, body, and spirit whilst accepting who we are, our weakness and strength. For more information, contact Rev Dr Louise Castle, Bishop's Advisor in Healing and Wholeness, healing.ministry@sheffield.anglican.org.
