SUBMIT SOME ART!


This is an important part of our project.  It gives butterfly heroes a way to connect with this incredible species at a very personal level.  Your art work and name will be displayed on the website so get to making some art.  You can you the templates on the link or just create your own.  Follow the simple instructions to submit and that’s it!

CATERPILLAR ANATOMY


The monarch caterpillars are famous for their bright stripes, which help to deter predators. They also have an interesting anatomy that makes them unique from other caterpillar species.


The monarch caterpillar has six legs, like all caterpillars, and these are situated in the front section of the body. The legs are attached to the thorax, which is the middle section of the body. The thorax is also where the caterpillar’s three pairs of true legs are located, along with the prolegs. The prolegs are fleshy, suction cup-like structures that help the caterpillar to grip onto surfaces as it crawls.

    From 9:00am-1:00pm

    Volunteer check in 8:45am.  Lean towards coming earlier than later!  We will put you to work


WHERE

  • In the Wetlands of LA State Historic Park.

  • Parking is available in the main parking lot located at

    1254 N. Spring Street, LA CA 90012 and the adjacent wood chip area.
