Hank is Back!

Remember our sweet boy Hank? Hank (far left) is a 25 year old chestnut pony quarter horse that came to EOI back in 2017. Hank was adopted, but was no longer able to stay in his loving home. EOI takes our life long commitment to all of our horses seriously, so when asked if he could return, we didn't hesitate to welcome him back. Given his age and circumstances, Hank is now considered an EOI sanctuary horse which means he will stay with us and get the best possible care for the rest of his days. He has been settling in nicely, catching up with his old pals, Sassy & Paige!

Elvis is Looking for a Home

Spread the word! Elvis was surrendered to us in December and we have found him to be the sweetest boy and so deserving of a home of his own! Elvis can be described as… 

• An uncomplicated fellow who gets along with mares and geldings but isn’t overly worried about the comings and goings of anyone,

• A professional afternoon napper,

• Gentle to be around for novices,

• An excellent companion horse. He’s in retirement and his riding days are behind him, but brief easy going toodles around the neighborhood for a child or small adult are likely okay.

Casino’s Recovery

Casino fans…. Are you sitting down? After months of treatment and recovery from canker and cellulitis in her back feet, Casino now has no unhealthy hoof tissue and has been given the clear to be free from her med pen! It’s been a long road - We’d like to thank you all for the support, love, and donations you sent our way for our girl. A special thank you to Bend Equine for the top notch medical care and to our volunteers for the dedicated support and extra care required to keep her going! We are eternally grateful for this community!

Dr. Findley has been in practice at Bend Equine Medical Center for nearly 13 years, and with EOI for 3 years, both as a board member and the herd's veterinarian. She knows each and every herd member very well and is at the ranch regularly checking in on health concerns, giving exams, and doing dentals. Dr. Findley also advises our team on the herd's individual diets, supplements, and medications. She is incredibly compassionate and the herd & volunteer staff are so lucky to have her.

Dr. Findley will be making an appearance here from time to time to share important horse health information on topics such as arthritis, laminitis, geriatric care/nutrition and more.

Tom is an incredibly talented horse gentler that has been working with the EOI herd and holding educational sessions for our volunteers since the fall. Tom grew up on a farm & ranch in Idaho and was on path to veterinary medicine before being drafted. Tom’s been a lifelong horse owner, so naturally, working with horses has become his full-time hobby! Tom has been with Healing Reigns for five years as well, also as a horse gentler and educator to the volunteer team. We and our herd are very grateful that Tom found us. He’s already made a big difference in the lives of Mocha, Wasco, Sassy, and Paige.

Tom will be joining us for guest appearances to talk about gentler topics such as building trust, horse communication, and what he’s been up to with the herd.
