Volunteers neededEMS PTSA Is Seeking 2023-24 Club Chairs!

The following enrichment clubs have vacancies for volunteer chairs for the '23–'24 school year:

  • Reflections program chair
  • Coding Club chair
  • Chess Club chair (EMS PTSA partners with a vendor who coaches students; the club chair acts as a liaison between the vendor and families.)

If you are interested or curious about volunteering to lead our children in these clubs, please contact us at enrichment@evergreenptsa.org. Please also don’t hesitate to join our team and start a new club if you have any other interests that are not currently offered at EMS. Remember, together, we can achieve so much more!

Washington State PTA 2022-2023 Silver Membership Growth Award RecipientThank You, PTSA Members!

Evergreen PTSA has been recognized by Washington State PTA as a Silver Membership Growth Award recipient! PTAs are presented with this award for enrolling 105 percent as many members as last year. That means EMS PTSA—and our impact—is growing!

Brown Bear Car Wash Fundraiser

Brown Bear Car WashKeep your car shiny and clean while supporting our school! EMS PTSA is raising money by selling Brown Bear Car Wash tickets. Tickets cost just $12 each (the same price as at the car wash), and $9.50 of every ticket sold goes back to our school! All profits will support Evergreen programs and services such as staff grants, teacher stipends, staff appreciation, student planners, 8th grade celebration and so much more!

You can choose to have your tickets mailed to you or sent home with your student. Tickets have no expiration date and make great gifts for friends, family, teachers and yourself!

Administrative Professionals & Teacher Appreciation Weeks

LWSD would like to recognize the tremendous work of all our office professionals. We value them and appreciate each of their individual contributions to LWSD! Follow LWSD's Facebook page to see the profiles of some of our district's incredible administrative professionals, and thank your school's amazing admins this week!

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8–12 this year. Show LWSD teachers how much you appreciate them by nominating one! Email communications@lwsd.org or send LWSD a message on Facebook or Instagram for a chance to be featured on the district's social media channels.

LWSD Is Hiring!

LWSD is always seeking great talent for positions throughout our district. In addition to other positions available in LWSD, we're seeking applicants for: paraeducators, nurses, instructional assistants (IAs), custodians and bus drivers. Sustainability Ambassadors Youth Leadership Development Program

Sustainability Ambassadors logoDo you know a middle school or high school student who is passionate about student leadership and climate action? Sustainability Ambassadors is hosting an online, peer-to-peer open house for students interested in joining its Youth Leadership Development Program, on Monday, May 22, from 7 to 8 pm. The program seeks to train student teams to help lead on climate action at a local level. To get the Zoom link, students will need to register here.

Washington State PTA Advocacy in action! Updates from the Washington state 2023 legislative sessionWSPTA State Legislative Session Debrief This Wednesday

Join Washington State PTA (WSPTA) Legislative Consultant Marie Sullivan this Wednesday, April 26, at 7 pm on Zoom to get the scoop on the 2023 Washington State Legislative Session. Marie will summarize the operating and capital budget investments and brief us on policy bills. In addition, she'll talk about bills that didn't pass that might make good positions for the next WSPTA Legislative Assembly or to work with legislators to improve on during the interim. This will be an interactive meeting, so come prepared with your questions. Register here.

LEARN Saves Lives: Suicide Prevention Training for Parents and CaregiversLake Washington PTSA Council is partnering with LWSD to host a free education event for parents and caregivers. Come experience a potentially life-saving training from the University of Washington's Forefront Suicide Prevention program. The information shared in this session will help you recognize when someone might be at risk for suicide and how to connect them with immediate help.

Social Media & Mental Health—Practical Advice

Parent ChatBeing a teen today (and raising one) isn't easy. Adolescents everywhere are facing mental health struggles. While every parent has heard about cyber dangers, many don't fully understand the "everyday dangers" of normal social media use. At the next Balance in Mind Parent Chat, award-winning speaker Ashley Bendiksen combines compelling and relatable storytelling with research-backed practical advice to help parents understand their kids and know what they CAN do.
