It’s Monday, April 17; #TakeAction and use your voices to Protect Transgender Children and Support Statehood for D.C. Citizens.

Call Congresswoman Kim Schrier (202) 225-7761) and ask her to:
*oppose the MAGA attacks on transgender children
*stand up for D.C.’s citizens’ right to make local laws.

#TakeAction #1 Action: Tell Rep. Schrier To Oppose MAGA GOP Attacks On Transgender Children And To Vote “No” On H.R. 734
Americans are concerned about inflation, the unaffordability of healthcare, gun violence, climate change, income inequality, immigration, racism, and fiscal well-being. MAGA GOP members of the U.S. House are devoting their efforts to creating false dangers posed by trans youth participating in school sports!

H.R. 734, the so-called “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023,” would ban transgender and intersex girls and women from participating in school sporting activities that align with their gender identities.

Give Rep. Schrier’s office a call -(202) 225-7761 - let her know we count on her to stand up for inclusivity and to vote “NO” on H.R. 734.

#TakeAction #2 Action: Tell Rep. Schrier To OPPOSE H.J. Res. 42
District of Columbia, with a population larger than two states., taxes people by the Federal Government yet denies any voting representation in Congress.

In 1973, Congress passed the D.C. Home Rule Act, establishing a local legislative system with an elected mayor and elected city council. The express intent of that Act was to “relieve Congress of the burden of legislating upon essentially local District matters.”

Last year, by the Home Rule Act, the D.C. Council twice passed a Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Amendment Act, once by an 11-0 vote and then again by a 13-0 vote.

MAGA majority in the U.S. House is putting forth a vote this week, H.J. Res 42, which would thwart the will of D.C. voters and their elected representatives and repeal those reforms.

Call Rep. Schrier’s office today at (202) 225-7761 and tell her to stand up for the right of D.C.’s citizens to make their local laws until they have what they deserve - D.C. Statehood!
