STARTING NEXT WEEK - Spring Dead-End Hydrant Flushing!

By sjoski on Apr 17, 2023 08:30 am

The Village of Bellevue will begin dead-end hydrant flushing next week, April 24th – May 5th.

If you notice flushing in your neighborhood, temporarily avoid using the water if possible. Residents may notice their water is discolored while the flushing occurs. The water is safe to drink; however, the discoloration may stain clothing. If your water is discolored, run your faucet until the water is clear.

Please contact the Public Works Department if you have any questions regarding this process at (920) 468-5225.

Tornado Drill -- Thursday, 4/20

By sjoski on Apr 12, 2023 10:55 am

This week is Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin. In lieu of the normal Wednesday siren test, we will be participating in the Statewide Tornado Drills on Thursday, April 20th at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

Expect sirens to sound for 60 seconds at both times.

Take this opportunity to talk with family, friends, and coworkers about what your plan would be if the sirens were activated for a Tornado Warning or sighting in Brown County. Whether at home, work, or school, it’s important to have a plan in place and to know where to go if a tornado warning is issued:

  • In a home or building, move to a pre-designated shelter, such as a basement, and get under a sturdy table or the stairs.
  • If a basement is not available, move to a small interior room on the lowest floor and cover yourself with anything close at hand: towels, blankets, pillows. If possible, get under a sturdy table, desk, or counter. Put as many walls as possible between you and the storm. Stay away from windows.
  •  If caught outdoors, seek shelter in a sturdy building. If you cannot quickly walk to shelter, get into a vehicle, buckle your seatbelt and drive to the closest sturdy shelter. If flying debris occurs while you are driving, pull over and park. Now you have two options as a last resort:
    • Stay in the vehicle with the seatbelt on and place your head below the windows.
    • If you can safely get noticeably lower than the roadway, exit the vehicle and lie in that area, covering your head with your hands.
  • Never seek shelter under an overpass. They can create a wind tunnel that attracts debris during a tornado, putting you in danger.
  • Mobile homes, even if tied down, offer little protection from tornadoes. You should leave a mobile home and go to the designated storm shelter or the lowest floor of a sturdy nearby building.
