Grow Green Match Day is a community fundraising event that offers a 50% match on gifts given on April 21, 2023. Funds donated to First Congregational on Match Day will be used for critical facility maintenance.
As you know, First Congregational is a home to many of us who may not have a home elsewhere. We are all welcome here! Keeping a physical space in tiptop shape allows us to host not just church functions but critical community gatherings, including AA, NA and Second Helping, to name a few.
Our native limestone church building is 164 years old. It is the oldest Protestant church building in Kansas still in use by its original congregation. While our church has served our congregation and community in many ways, it is currently in need of several repairs to help see us through the next 164 years. Needed repairs include roofing, foundation repair, remediating water damage and wall repair. Further, while we are an open and affirming congregation, it is time to evict the bats who have taken up residence in our “belfry”.
Match Day is a great way to enhance your gift giving. Every dollar donated will immediately be available for the church to use and an additional $.50 per dollar will be donated to the church’s endowed fund, which provides annual income via interest each year. Whether you can give $25 or $1,000, every gift makes a difference and will help us to maintain the life of our church building.
