What is the Professional Staff Senate (PSS)?

We represent you! We are the official representative body of professional, or exempt, staff employed at UMBC.

What do we do?

We provide a forum for discussing issues involving or of interest to exempt staff members, such as academic and administrative policies. Some of these topics have included FLSA, campus climate, employee benefits, and state budget updates and impacts.

We work diligently to maintain and contribute to community life at UMBC by organizing events for staff and volunteering for non-PSS sponsored events. Each member serves on selected subcommittees of their choosing regarding certain policies or procedures.

PSS Mentoring Program Application

The application is live for the 2023-2024 PSS Mentoring Program! The 2023 - 2024 program cohort kicks off in July and will run through June of next year. New exempt staff members, at UMBC for less than 3 years, are encouraged to apply to be mentees. If you have been at UMBC for 3 years or more, apply to be a mentor. Applications are due by March 28th. Contact Laila Shishineh (lailams@umbc.edu) directly with questions.
