"Vegan Silk"

Just in time for Earth Day, this week we are launching Queensland’s Myrtle a new yarn that is both Sustainable & Compostable, Myrtle is made in Portugal from Lyocell processed from eucalyptus leaves.

Lyocell is a semi-synthetic fabric that is commonly used as a substitute for cotton or silk. Lyocell is 50% more absorbent than cotton, and has a longer wicking distance compared to modal fabrics of a similar weave.

Since there is little waste product, this process is relatively eco-friendly. Lyocell is fully biodegradable as the manufacturing process is free from harmful by-products. Products made from Lyocell can be recycled, incinerated, or digested in sewage. The fiber will usually degrade completely in just eight days in waste treatment plants.

It’s Pandamonium at Cabled Fiber

New Cotton Bamboo Yarn

Delightfully soft and silky, Cascade Yarn’s (New Yarn) Pandamonium is a DK-weight blend of 55% Cotton and 45% Viscose from Bamboo. This lightweight yarn offers drape, breathability, and strength. We have multis to complement the solids. Equally well suited for both knit and crochet, Pandamonium works up beautifully for accessories and garments for the whole family as well as home décor.

MarySue is working on a sample of a new pattern from one of our favorite designers that will be released on Local Yarn Store Day for you to see the lovely drape of the yarn and the multiple ways the pattern can be worn. The pattern uses 1 skein each of a multi and solid. This is a great Spring knit that works up quickly.

Just Arrived This Week!

Noble Cotton Hand Dyed is made from the same mercerized long staple cotton as Cascade Yarns original Noble Cotton yarn, but in beautiful hand dyed colors. Perfect for adding a bit of color to any hand made garment. We brought in 2 Spring/Summer colors for you to try out.

The mill that makes Cascade’s Noble Cotton processes the water in a closed system that uses a variety of methods including reverse osmosis and nano filtration. The zero-water emissions saves over 350 million liters of water per year and results in consistent and clear colors in the yarn.

Noble Cotton is currently available in a broad range of solids, and newly added Hand Dyed colorway.

Join in a gathering of the Northwest Spinners and Fiber Arts Association. We were always inclusive of all the fiber arts and now it's Official - changing our name and becoming a 501(c)3. We meet the 4th Sunday of every month at the Port Angeles Library from 1-4pm and welcome all to come and see what the fiber arts are all about. Bring your Spinning, Knitting, Crochet, Small Weaving or Quilting, and more to work on and share with others.
