Public Intercultural Worship Service

Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, Kitchener
You are warmly invited to gather with Mennonite sisters and brothers from across MCEC on the Friday night of our Annual Church Gathering. No registration is required.

Fanosie Legesse, MCEC Intercultural Mission Minister, will challenge us from Hebrews 12:1-4 - Where does our Transformation, Inspiration and Calling come from? As believers in all the local churches, why do we believe that our covenant relationship with God and with each other is our calling in life and not just a temporary pledge?

Hear also from Rebecca Riek and Arnold Neufeldt-Fast as they respond to the message.

Welcome four congregations and their leaders as they join or transition membership in MCEC. Be a part of leading community worship - bring your acoustic musical instruments and help to lead us in worship. There will also be a few extra instruments available, should the Spirit lead you to join in on the day of. This will be an evening you will want to attend! See you there.

Calling all musicians! If you will be attending the Annual Church Gathering, you are invited to bring your acoustic musical instruments and join the community worship team.

Before each worship session our music leader, Brandon Leis, will briefly run through the hymns so all who are playing can feel comfortable with the material. If you want to have a list of the songs to look at before-hand please email Brandon (bleis@wlu.ca). There will also be a few extra instruments available, should the spirit lead you join in on the day of. Offer your gifts in worship!

Break Out Discussion Rooms @ ACG
We have been listening. These are the topics you asked to talk about at Annual Church Gathering. You will self select one of these groups on Saturday at the ACG. Let's chat! Do you want to take in more than one? No cloning is needed! A note taker will record the conversation and we will share the information.
  • What does hospitality look like in 2023?
  • How might we celebrate our rich heritage during the 500 year anniversary of Anabaptism?
  • What are creative ideas, resources and supports for congregations looking at redevelopment or repurposing church property?
  • Why is our denomination declining in attendance and how do we address this challenge?
  • How can we support each other in taking steps on the journey of truth-telling and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples?
  • How do our core Mennonite teachings give us a shared identity?
  • What does it mean to be a peace church as it relates to our environmental impact?

Children in Worship: A Workshop Event
May 13, 2023
9 - 11:30 a.m.
Waterloo North Mennonite Church

A workshop from Carmen Brubacher (Waterloo North MC), Anita Schroeder Kipfer (Floradale MC) and Charleeen Jongejan Harder (Elmira MC). Leading children's time can be intimidating. We're setting aside a morning to explore how we integrate children and worship, looking closely at children’s time. Come to receive resources, ideas, and discuss how we can support one another as we seek to nurture our children’s faith through intergenerational worship. Registration is open.
This workshop is strongly endorsed by MCEC.

The film follows 18 Americans and Jews visiting Israel and Palestine, as they seek to understand what life is like in Occupied Palestine and in East Jerusalem. The journey becomes an intense encounter with the people they meet and also with their own preconceptions - an experience that for many of them is transformative.

Co-sponsored by the MCEC Palestine Israel Network Working Group.
The constituency-based MCEC Palestine Israel Network Working Group serves the MCEC constituency by promoting awareness and education on specific issues and topics. The information and links are those of the Working Group and do not necessarily represent MCEC as a whole.
