Now Accepting Applications for the Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship Program

Future leaders from across the globe are invited to apply for the Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship Program! The application deadline is Monday, May 15.

The Forum and EF College Study have created a first-of-its-kind, high-impact student scholarship program, in collaboration with EF’s educational partner the Nobel Prize Museum. This interdisciplinary program, which combines an online project-based course, an international experience in Sweden, and attendance at the 2023 Nobel Week Dialogue, is dedicated to including students from diverse backgrounds.

Education abroad colleagues are invited to join our free webinar on April 26 to learn more about the program and how to encourage your students to apply.

Today Is the Deadline to Volunteer for The Forum Standards Update Committee

Per The Forum’s Standards Development policy, we are currently accepting volunteers to form a Standards Update Committee. This Committee will provide recommendations for changes to the normative reference and terms and definitions sections of the 6th edition of the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad.

Scope of Work: Weekly meetings in April and May with asynchronous collaboration between meetings. (Pending ballot results of the consensus body, the Committee may have more meetings through 2023.)

Proposal: Tracking Incidents of Significant Risk to Students

The Forum convened a Student Risk Task Force to identify how to collect and compile data about the "significant incidents" that happen to students on their organization’s programs using a common framework. This would allow the data to be reported publicly to education abroad stakeholders and be used to make informed decisions and build in risk mitigations where possible.

The resulting proposal is available for public comment from all interested stakeholders. Thank you in advance for sharing your comments by Sunday, April 30!

Improving Outreach Activities — Mentoring Youth in a Structured Skills-Based Development Program Increases Personal Growth of College Students Studying Abroad

As study abroad becomes more common, so does the need to understand how different outreach opportunities alter the experience.

To determine how outreach program design links to perceptions of personal growth, researchers from University of California, Santa Barbara; University of Washington; East Carolina University; and WorldFish surveyed 72 college students who participated in different youth outreach activities while studying abroad.
