Covenanting with Nourish
Join us Sunday at GLEN RHODES or online at 10:30 as we celebrate NOURISH and the new covenant on our commitment to food security.  Members of the Nourish Board, Applegrove, choir, community, and Revs Robin and Dan will be leading the celebration, which will end with an agape meal (a pot-luck crossed with Communion).  Bring a food dish to share in the meal, and a contribution to Nourish Food Bank.  All will be fed!

Bees for Peace and the United Church of Canada Shining Waters Regional Council are sponsoring 5-day summer camps, where kids and youth ages 5 – 12 will learn about bees and native plant gardens, how they relate to our faith and support our world.
Our planned activities will help build community among camp participants, strengthen their connection to nature and nurture in them values such as teamwork, generosity, wonder towards the natural world and appreciation of differences. Camp participants will also go home with clear instructions for how to plant their own native plant garden in the fall and the enthusiasm to make it real!
Themes include peaceful communication, the celebration of diversity, avoiding food waste and increasing food security, habitats for bees and humans, fighting climate change, and community and the web of life. Bee-specific topics include bee communication, diversity and biology, pollination and nectar, bee nests and bee hotels, effects of climate change on bees, and how-to’s for native plant gardening.
We will also have modules available that can supplement an already chosen curriculum.

Thank You For Your Continuing Support!
Out of the Cold has finished its Friday night meals, clothing and toiletries distribution, haircuts, overnights and breakfasts for the season.  Thank you to the awesome East Enders and community members who helped by volunteering their time, their talents, and their support to enable us to help our community - it takes a village!

We are collecting items for our room kits and items to restock our depleted clothing room storage on an ongoing basis - jeans, hoodies, t-shirts, warm clothing - we need it all! please hold our guests in your prayers and continue to support as you are able.

Share the Care for an Hour

Be the face of East End United when people gather for food at Nourish or dinner at Out of the Cold. Join one of our current "sidewalk presence" ministers for an hour to meet and greet those who come to either of our food ministry programs. Receive a warm welcome from clients and volunteers while you get an up-close perspective on this part of our congregational life. Tell someone else about your experience later to spread awareness of a pressing social issue.

Wednesdays at 9:05 - 10 a.m., with Robin Wardlaw at the Glen Rhodes Campus

Fridays at 5 - 6 p.m, with Robin or with Daniel Benson at the Eastminister Campus (Jackman entrance)

Only one volunteer per site per week, thank you!

Speak to Robin (robinwardlaw@eastendunited.ca) to find out more or sign up.
