Redding Roasters: Free Pallets

No plants in them... yet!  Get crafty!  We have multiple food grade pallets for free!  When you pull in to park, they're to the right, by the dumpster. Take some home and get vertical gardening!

LOCAL NEWS
  • Part of Codfish Hill Closed in Bethel- a culvert is being replaced. The section from 130-150 Codfish will be closed for April while the replacement happens. It is expected to be done by May
  • City of Danbury Hydrant Flushing- through June 20th- Annual flushing of the hydrants is necessary to provide better quality water and fire protection. Customers may experience fluctuations in pressure and/or discoloration of their water during flushing. If you experience discolored water, wait until we leave your area then run your cold water tap until it clears. During periods of discoloration, postpone washing clothes and limit your use of hot water until the cold water clears.
  • STOP- new stop signs installed on Long Ridge Road & Sidecut Road in Redding. Pay attention!
  • Drug Takeback Day- Saturday 22nd- Turn in expired medication or stuff you just are no longer taking for proper disposal.  See DEA website to see participating locations in your ZIP code. some places also recycle year round.

  • AS of 4/18 people 65 years and older, as well as immunocompromised individuals can get and additional bivalent COVID-19 booster shot.

  • Redding Daffodil Field-Rte 58 to Cross Highway, Redding-Daffodil field will be on your left. There are a few parking spots on the right side of the road. IT IS A PRIVATE RESIDENCE! The owners are very generous in allowing visitors to respectfully enjoy the walking path through the field. Please stick to paths and leave your dogs home so as to avoid crushing any flowers that haven't come up yet. They're well hidden in the grass.
  • The Great Egg Weekend- Friday 6-8PM, Saturday - Redding Grange 399 Newtown Turnpike Rd-  Friday, April 21st - Potluck and egg-tasting from 6-8pm- Saturday, April 22nd 4-5:30pm - EGG-ducation and conversation - primarily targeted to those new to chicken keeping. Sunday, April 23rd 1-3PM  - Family with activities with baby chicks and birds on sight for viewing. 1-3pm. $3 recommended donation per family to help cover costs
  • 12 Angry Men at Newtown Players-Friday 4/21 8PM, Thurs 27th 8PM friday 28th 8PM, Saturday 4/29 8PM-  Players of Newtown Little Theatre,18 Orchard Hill Road Newtown- The show is centered around 12 strangers as they deliberate the fate of an 18 year old man charged with the capital murder of his father. A guilty verdict would mean an automatic death sentence for the boy. The case appears open and shut with 11 to 12 voting instantly for a guilty verdict. The one hold out helps to take the other jurors and audience on a journey into the complexity of the case as well as the jurors themselves.   • Compost Drive- Saturday 9AM-1PM & Saturday the 29th- Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard, 21 Old Farm Road- The Friends of the Second Company Governor's Horse Guard is hosting their Annual Spring Compost Drive Fundraiser. Load up your buckets and stop by to pick up some of the best and most organic, aged compost around. Volunteers will be onsite to help fill up and collect donations.Suggested donations $10 for small buckets and $20 for larger quantities.- BYO container (bag, pail, tub, etc; no trucks or trailer loads), annual event presented by Friends of Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard, proceeds benefit horse guard
  • Bethel Community Earth Day- Saturday- There are two parts to this year's event:Trashapalooza:9AM-11AM- Help clean up the town. Sign up for a route you'll clear trash on here Email kmtroy2019@gmail.com to pre-register or come the morning of Earth Day to sign up for a route. Check in at the Municipal Center at 9 am to get your trash bags. This activity will go until 11 am.--Earth Day Fair:  at the Municipal Center from 11 am to 1 PM. Snacks, games and activities, live music, and educational tables. Live music with Nan & Julie from 11 am to 12 pm, followed by live music with the Bethel Ukulele Group (BUG) from 12:15 to 1 pm!

  • Bethel BMX Open House-Saturday 22nd & 29th- 11AM-1:30PM- Mitchell Park, 164 Old Hawleyville Rd- Mitchell Park- First day the bicross in Bethel. Come try it out before the regular season. Free membership for one day! Boys and girls from 2 years on with balance bikes or pedals. Organizers also speak Spanish!
  • Rock N Roll with Joan Bujacich and Joe Bilotti.-Sunday 3-4PM Richter Association for the Arts- 100 Aunt Hack Rd. Danbury- -Journey through the music and culture of Rock’n Roll in song and stories with The Heart Of Gold Band’s Joan Bujacich and Joe Bilotti. Starting with the roots of Rock’n Roll in the 1950’s, Joan and Joe perform music showing its evolution and development into its pinnacle decades, the 1960’s and 1970’s. You will hear songs from artists Chuck Berry, Elvis, Dion and The Belmonts, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Beatles, The Band, Joni Mitchell, Traffic, Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Peter Frampton and much more. No tickets required, but donations are gratefully accepted.
  • Performance of  Mozart’s Requiem, KV 626.-  Sunday 3PM-  Trinity Episcopal Church, Newtown- This performance is part of the Connecticut Choral Society’s 40th Anniversary season. Under the direction of Eric Dale Knapp with Diana McVey, soprano - Veronica Pollicino, mezzo- soprano - Wesley Morgan, tenor - Damian Savarino, bass, and Linda Sweetman Waters, organ along with ORCHESTRANEXUS and Nexus Choral Artists, this concert will bring to life this magical masterwork whose genesis is shrouded in mystery. $35 General Admission for this afternoon of Mozart music. Special Note: Dr. Vincent de Luise will give a pre-concert lecture - The Inside Line at 2:00 pm.
  • WCSU 2023 SENIOR PORTFOLIO EXHIBITION through May 7th- Tues–Fri, 12–4 pm, Sat–Sun, 1–4 pm The Gallery at the Visual & Performing Arts Center, 43 Lake Ave Extension, Danbury- The WCSU Department of Art presents the Senior Portfolio Exhibition each spring as a capstone experience for students pursuing the B.A. in Art in one of four areas of concentration: graphic design, illustration, photography and studio arts (painting). This year’s exhibition will feature 7 art majors with a concentration in graphic design, 5 in illustration, 9 in photography, and 5 in studio arts
  • Post prom Fundraiser at Michael's Tap Room - Tuesday 5-9PM- 37 Stony Hill Rd-Dine in or take out during the hours of 5-9 P.M and  specify it is for BHS post prom. A portion of proceeds go to the Post Prom party to provide students with a safe after prom activity.
  • Spring Wildflowers of Connecticut-Wednesday 6:30-7:30 PM- Online OR in prson at Bethel Public Library-  Many beautiful spring native wildflowers can be found growing in Connecticut's fields, forests, and wetlands.  Their appearance not only delight our eyes, but they also lift our winter weary spirits from the drabness of our cold months.  Area naturalists Barbara and Peter Rzasa will provide a presentation highlighting some of their favorite native spring wildflowers at the April 26 meeting of the Bethel Land Trust, to be held here at Bethel Public Library.  This is a hybrid event; you can choose to attend in person or on Zoom.
  • Open Mic Night- Every Thursday 7-9:30PM- Molten Java- 213 Greenwood Ave. - All Ages Open Mic. LGBTQ friendly! Cohosted by Bethel Pride. Come play music, recite poetry, tell a story, or show off another talent. Keep in mind this is an all ages event in a public venue. We trust you to make good choices about appropriate material.

(showed friend with chickens these pictures and they think he's most likely a Golden Laced Wyandotte and said nice things about Wyandottes temperament  in general) Adopt him from Smithtown Animal Shelter
