Dear Friend,
Last week, in a moment that was surreal and spectacular for me, six-year-old Lucy harvested Book Harvest’s two millionth book!

I remember the first book that was harvested. I remember the one millionth book. And here we are, in the blink of an eye, at two million. Wow.

YAY for every one of us who helped us get to this milestone, for every one of us who donated books, sorted books, stocked shelves, read with a child - and who, most of all, believed in our vision of books for every child, support for every parent, and literacy for every community.

Summer is coming. The work continues.

This week, Lucy and 14,208 of her elementary school peers in 35 schools across four counties will each fill a backpack with books to take home over the summer and keep forever. This simple and joyful act will equip them to read all summer long and will help them preserve the hard-won learning gains they made this year.

It's all part of Book Harvest's beloved Books on Break program, now in its twelfth year. As summer approaches, I hope you will join me in support of this vital work:

Here’s how your gift can help:

  • $1,205 gifts every student in a school with a new string backpack to hold treasured summer books.
  • $520 kindles the joy of reading for a classroom of young students to ensure they have books to read over the summer to preserve their learning.
  • $235 shares 50 new Spanish books with bilingual families!
  • $140 boosts the brain power of six young readers with books they choose from a community Book Box.
  • $80 provides a hand-crafted bookshelf to a family to keep all their beloved children’s books.
  •  $45 fuels the joy of reading for a child by providing 10 books to always cherish.

If you've already given this spring, thank you!
I am so grateful for your support.
My heart is full and my dreams are big: we are off and running on our way to three million books. We couldn’t do it without you. Thank you!
