Well, Hello May!

We are well into spring and May brings on so much anticipation: Derby, Mothers Day, Memorial Day, graduations, end of school year - so much GOOD stuff! It's like summer has rang the doorbell and is ready to come on in!

Do you know what else we get to celebrate in May? Here's a collage of a few national observances...AND THERE ARE SO MANY MORE!

Do you like to peek at the lists of monthly observances online like me? It's pretty entertaining and it teaches us to celebrate something special every day!

Anyway, we have been busy with Council work: Comprehensive Plan Goals & Objectives, Mayor's Proposed Budget, several public hearings, and I was honored to introduce an ordinance at this week's General Government and Planning Committee that expands the definition of race-based discrimination to include natural hair discrimination. (You can read more about the C.R.O.W.N. Act here.) If you or someone you know has faced race-based hair discrimination, the Council wants to hear your story!

This month's newsletter shares quite a bit about city business and has quite a LOT of May and June fun, too. There's so much to share, don't be surprised if you get another edition later in the month. ;-)
