Join Us in SF This Weekend!

30th Taiwanese American Cultural Festival

When: Saturday, May 13 from 10AM - 4PM
Where: San Francisco's Union Square

It's here! “Take Off to Taiwan” this Saturday and join TAP-SF at our 2023 Taiwanese American Cultural Festival!

This weekend, Union Square will be divided into zones correlating to various Taiwanese counties, inviting visitors to:

  • Experience authentic Taiwanese cuisine in “Tainan” (the festival food court)
  • Watch engaging, show-stopping performances in “Taipei” (our stage and performance area)
  • Play fun, cultural activities in “Yilan” (the activities section)
  • Grab your “passport” at “Taoyuan” (our information booth and swag stand), explore all the festival has to offer, and return to our info booth at the end to exchange your completed "passport" for a raffle ticket!

Come by to enjoy traditional performances, fill up on Taiwanese fare, and support local artists and Asian-owned businesses!

Taiwanese Heritage Day at Oakland A's

When: Saturday, May 27 at 1PM
Where: Oakland Coliseum

Watch the Oakland A's battle the Houston Astros at the first-ever Taiwanese Heritage Day! Since tickets have been selling quickly, TAP-SF has increased our block of tickets for the game. Ticket price includes a commemorative Taiwanese blue magpie hat. Purchase tickets by May 20 to guarantee a seat in the TAP-SF section.

Join the TAP-SF Dragon Boat Team!

TAP-SF is participating in the California Dragon Boat Association's annual sprints/race challenge on August 12, 2023 in Foster City and we need a team of 20 rowers (10 men, 10 women). The registration fee is $75 and includes our team t-shirt, two required practices*, and two races (a qualifier round and a final round). Pay via Zeffy to hold your spot, and we will follow up with the registration link and waiver.

*The two required practices will be at Lake Merced in SF on July 29 and August 5 from 11am-2pm.

TAP-SF Mentorship Program: Update

Thank you to all those who replied to our mentorship program survey! The survey is now closed. If you haven’t already, you will receive a message with your match in the next few days. We are excited to see how this pilot program goes!

Asian American Community Happenings

The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) presents CAAMFest, the nation’s largest Asian American festival, celebrating 41 years of Asian American Stories May 11 - 21, 2023.

This year CAAMFest is returning fully in-person with a call to gather in the community. This year's festival will have expanded programming that will take you on a journey centered in community and gathering through film, food, and music. TAP-SF is proud to be a Community Partner for the screenings of: American Born Chinese and Centerpiece: Starring Jerry as Himself.
