Tourism report: Monterey County 2022 tourism spending about 5% below pre-pandemic level
Travel-related spending in Monterey County hit $3.1 billion in 2022, at 94.25% of the pre-pandemic 2019 figure of $3.2 billion, and though 2023 started off rocky with winter-weather impacts, the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau is taking an optimistically cautious tone heading into summer.
Monterey County’s travel-related spending figure for 2022 of $3,054,102,143, generated about $307.3 million in state and local tax revenues, and provided about 25,400 jobs, according to the recently-released Visit California 2022 Economic Impact of Travel in California report by Dean Runyan Associates. Palenke Arts to host benefit event
Palenke Arts, an exciting multicultural arts center in Seaside, hosts "Vino, Tapas and Manouche Jazz, a benefit concert featuring Barrio Manouche, flamenco dancer Melissa Cruz and wines by Georis Winery, from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, May 21 at Hidden Valley Music Seminars.
And mark your calendars for Palenke Arts Festival, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. June 4 at Laguna Grande Park, Seaside, with performances from the Brazilian band Sambadá, Mexica dancers Calpulli Toneleque, Nā Haumana (Hula school), and Son de Fandango, food vendors, kids' art activities, and community and artist booths. Salinas Valley Health marks its 70th anniversary with a celebration of its nurses and healthcare workers
Salinas Valley Health (MCBC member) commemorated its 70th anniversary on Wednesday with an Oscars-themed award ceremony celebrating its nurses and healthcare workers as part of Nurses and Hospitals Appreciation Week.
"It takes a lot of courage and effort to continue to work in the healthcare industry after the pandemic, so we want to make sure we honor them for that," said Salinas Valley Health Board Vice President Joel Hernandez. Read more Source: KSBW
A branch office of Monterey law firm Fenton & Keller (MCBC member) is now open in King City. The new King City office’s team is led by attorney John E. Kesecker and will be staffed by Kesecker, Stefanie King, and Lesly Valdez, as well as Kesecker’s wife Kerry, who is helping to establish the .
“It’s fantastic to kick off the season again at Laguna Seca, we love it there,” Chris Ward, senior manager of motorsports for Automobili Lamborghini America, said in a press release. “It’s a historic start to the Super Trofeo calendar and there’s lots to be excited about. Fenton & Keller opens new office in King City
A branch office of Monterey law firm Fenton & Keller (MCBC member) is now open in King City. The new King City office’s team is led by attorney John E. Kesecker and will be staffed by Kesecker, Stefanie King, and Lesly Valdez, as well as Kesecker’s wife Kerry, who is helping to establish the new office. Kesecker intends to be in King City three to four days a week, with King and Valdez working there full-time.
The King and Salinas Valley Chambers of Commerce will co-host a ribbon-cutting from 4-6 p.m. Monday, June 12.
