This Week in FOCUS

I (Peg) am currently on my way home from Pennsylvania where I’ve been since Monday. My plane departs from Denver to Durango in about 90 minutes, so I have time to start an update.

It’s a very rainy day in Denver, and the terminal is quiet, so there’s kind of a hush about the place. The few people waiting on flights whisper to one another. It all feels kind of “reverent.” 

That’s a fitting end to the women’s events in Carlisle, PA (Carlisle Evangelical Free Church). In 2020, the gal who heads the Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group at CEFC invited me to come speak for the year’s finale celebration. BUT….COVID, of course. So, we shifted gears and I did a video for the ladies that got sent to just over 150 women. Here it is 2023 and this is the first “finale celebration” for MOPS since then, and Rachel asked if I’d come speak this May last June (2022). So, about March, we kicked up our contact on that event, and when the women’s ministry director heard I was coming, decided rather spontaneously to do a “Spring Event” on Tuesday night for the ladies of Carlisle. Since we were slower on getting the word out, Jorene hoped for 75 ladies….when the final tally came in, we had a room full of between 150 and 160 ladies. 

The women engaged well at both events, gifted me with direct eye contact throughout the sharing time, and encouraged me greatly afterwards with statements like:

    Just what I needed to hear.

    This was so timely.

    The Lord really spoke to me in a direct way.

    I heard you speak when you came last and did not want to miss! 

I even heard from a couple gals - I just love your sense of humor (I don’t know where that comes from)…

But, these kind of events remind me that what I do is so God’s doing. I plan. I research. I prepare. I study. I stand up to deliver….but, somehow in the middle of all this, the Spirit of the Lord just steps in and does what He does best: brings clarity and organization and the right words. I really do just step aside and see Him go….

And, that is why the word at the end of the first paragraph is so fitting. It just leaves me with a reverent awe that the Lord allows Bay and I to get in on what God is doing in different places all around the U.S.

And….you, you send us with your prayers and the finances to get there.
