Recently, I had a problem. My therapist suggested:
"Imagine your problem is a refrigerator. It's heavy. You can't move it all at once. But you can move it a little every day."
I thought: How profound! I should make a comic about this.
I presented the comic to my husband, Sterling. He said:
”Why would you move a refrigerator daily? Are you a mover?"
"Why don't you get a friend to help you? Then there’s no problem."
"Refrigerators don't need to be moved, because refrigerators run."
I didn’t publish the comic.
*Fast forward a few weeks*
Sterling and I have an issue with ants in our apartment. They are coming from behind our refrigerator. We move the refrigerator and find a hole.
Sterling plugs the hole.
The next day, I make tea, spilling honey in the process. I leave the kitchen to drink my tea. When I return, an army of ants covers the spill.
Sterling moves the refrigerator. We find a second ant hole. We seal it and feel triumphant.
Today, I found more ants. Less than before, but still: ants. Peering around the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets, I find ants sneaking in through a skinny crack.
As Sterling moved the refrigerator again, he said:
"I can’t believe I’m moving a refrigerator every day."
