Here is your update for May 4
Spring has definitely sprung, and it has been a beautiful season (minus the allergies!). We hope everyone is getting out and about to all the festivals that Atlanta has to offer. Here are some of the events this month: The Sweet Auburn Springfest, the Atlanta Jazz Festival and the Decatur Arts Festival, The Atlanta Food and Wine Festival, as well as Atlanta Air Show, the Kirkwood Springfest and the Shaky Knees Music Festival.

At OLLI we are busy as usual! May classes started this week, and we have our Short Summer Session for June up on our website and ready for registration. Just scroll down to see all the new choices. Please take a look and register as soon as possible.  Waiting too long may cause us to cancel a class due to low enrollment or have late enrollment fees added.

Do you know the impact you can have on OLLI’s success?

We all know that Emory’s Osher endowment comes with specific riders — provisions that our program must meet each year to honor our agreement with the Osher Foundation. One of those stipulations is OLLI collecting member donations that equal at least 10% of our member base during each fiscal year. Our fiscal year end on August 31, 2023. Our goal again this year is $15k, and we are currently sitting at $7,275. So, we’re only at about 48% of our goal. Thank you to those that have donated, we are slowly getting closer.

We need to close the gap as August nears. Your donations help with more than our Osher requirements; they can also aid students who may, on occasion, need help paying for a course. That means you are taking an active role in supporting lifelong learning in our community.

All donations show the Osher Foundation that our members have a vested interest in our OLLI at Emory program, and the services we are providing within our community. Any size donation amount helps us reach our goal. So, please, give what you can, and know how grateful we are for your support!  If you would like to donate, please click here for Emory University donation link.

New June courses:
Spring Multicultural Potluck, All Members invited!
The OLLI Joy Social Group would like to start an ongoing potluck at OLLI where we can meet and learn about each other through food. Where is your family from? What is the dish that represents your family. Come join us Friday, May 19th from 12 - 1:30pm. Each person will bring their favorite family dish. Be prepared to say a little something about your dish and why it's important to you. Registration required.  For more information and to sign-up click here.
