"First Woman" Graphic Novel / Camp Experience

"First Woman" tells the tale of Callie Rodriguez, the first woman to explore the Moon. While Callie is a fictional character, the first female astronaut and person of color will soon set foot on the Moon – a historic milestone and part of upcoming NASA Artemis missions. Through a series of graphic novels and digital platforms, "First Woman" aims to captivate audiences and inspire the next generation of explorers who will return to the Moon. The accompanying "First Woman" Camp Experience Guide and hands-on activities brings the excitement of NASA’s science and technology, intended for use in K–12 informal education settings such as after-school programs, summer camps, STEM nights, and weekend workshops.

Don't Miss the International Science and Engineering Fair

Lyda Hill Philanthropies' IF/THEN® Initiative will participate in activities associated with the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) to be held in Dallas, TX. On May 16th, LHP CEO Nicole Small will moderate a Women in STEM panel made up of Regeneron's Science Talent Search alumnae. The Science Talent Search is a highly prestigious competition that selects 40 of the nation's most exceptional and promising high school scientists from among the 2,000 invited to compete at ISEF. The four panelists are American Association for the Advancement of Science IF/THEN® Ambassadors Anjali Chadha, Kavya Kopparapu, Magan Lewis, and Erin Smith. Techbridge Girls:
Out-of-School Time Summer Program

To equip girls and gender-expansive youth to persist in STEM careers, Techbridge Girls supports educators in delivering STEM programs. By providing educators with our unique lens to STEM education, we can provide exponentially more girls and gender-expansive youth from marginalized communities with award-winning STEM programming than we could through a direct service program model. Applications for our Out-of-School Time (OST) Summer Program are open. All OST program partners who serve Black, Indigenous, and Latina girls and gender-expansive youth are encouraged to apply. Million Girls Moonshot's 2023 Flight Crew features remarkable youth from across the country. Motivated by their impactful STEM experiences beyond the classroom, these young leaders are currently working in their communities to break down stereotypes and spark their peers' curiosity in STEM. This talented cadre of youth embodies the Moonshot mission and they are committed to using afterschool and STEM learning to build a better future where young girls everywhere can envision a place for them in STEM. The Flight Crew will amplify youth voices in the national conversation around STEM equity as we work toward a future where every young girl can imagine themselves as a future engineer, builder or inventor. Women continue to be underrepresented in the STEM workforce. Gender gaps in education pathways persist, limiting access, preparation, and career opportunities. National Girls Collaborative Project's online resources examine the current state of STEM and provide statistical looks at progress in the K-12, Higher Education, and Workforce spheres.
