Artspace Mackay is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a suite of in-house curated exhibitions and community art projects that celebrate Mackay’s unique identity and the growth of the Mackay Regional Council Art Collection.
Time Of Our Lives

Local artists and performers completed a series of all abilities workshops with Crossroad Arts in 2023. Time of Our Lives is the culminating exhibition for this multi-faceted project, showcasing an art projection which will be shown on the gallery’s exterior every evening from July 3 to 9, 6pm to 8pm.

In Bloom

Foundation Gallery, Artspace Mackay
In Bloom showcases twenty years of growth of Artspace Mackay, focusing on Australian visual culture via botanical imagery. Through a lens of investigation, the exhibition considers the way floral imagery is used by artists to convey and, at times interrogate a range of issues – from the imagined utopia of life in the tropics to First Nations connection to country and culture.

Dylan Mooney: The Wall

Foyer Gallery, Artspace Mackay
Yuwi, Australian South Sea Islander and Torres Strait Islander artist Dylan Mooney creates his second site-specific mural on the gallery’s foyer wall. Mooney draws on his water connections to respond to rising sea levels and the impact on island communities.

Fire and Ash: Woodfire Pottery of Arthur and Carol Rosser

For more than forty years, Arthur and Carol Rosser created work from their secluded rainforest pottery in the Mackay hinterland, near Eungella. Bringing together a comprehensive body of woodfired pottery, Fire and Ash celebrates the artists’ expansive mastery of the medium.
