Breaking News!

Commander Joe Davalos has received news HB23-1084 extending the partial military retirement pay income tax exemption for approximately 8,000+ Colorado military retirees younger than 55, has passed!

The bill will now be heading to the Governor’s office for his signature.

Thanks to all who called and/or emailed your Legislators to ask them to vote YES!

Debra Gallegos and Arvida Rascon with KUVO Jazz 89.3 invited Commander Joe Davalos and Women’s Chair Wanda Maura-Garcia to visit the KUVO studio to record a couple of fundraising spots to let folks know how they and the Mile Hi Veterans feel about the KUVO community.

You may have heard them recently as you listen to Canción Mexicana on Sunday mornings 9am to 1pm or Pocho Joe right after and Jazz throughout the week!

Al Muniz!
Hi All!
I received this email from Al Muniz yesterday, 5/7.  I asked him to send me at least one pic for Que Pasa.
WOW, Al!!  You are amazing!

Hi Linda,

I am starting my ride to Washington DC today. I will be riding to Ontario, California then going to DC from there on May 16. Everyone, of course, wants me to keep them posted and send pictures but since I’m going to be on a motorcycle, it’s going to be hard to take pictures.

If folks want to keep track of me, they can go to: https://rftw.us/
Click on Run Details
Click  Midway Route Hub

They will have a photographer taking pictures every day and posting them on this website. I’ll see you in about a month or so.

The All of Us Research Program is a historic, longitudinal effort to gather data from one million or more people living in the United States to create a diverse health database that represents us all.

By taking into account individual differences in life circumstances, socioeconomics, environment, and biology, researchers may uncover paths toward delivering precision medicine – or individualized prevention, treatment, and care – for all of us.

This research is supported by National Institute of Health (NIH) along with other well-known groups such LULAC and the National Hispanic Nurses Association.
This brief video provides more information about the
All of Us Research program.
If you are interested  in taking part in the research study please click the link below and complete the from attached. For any questions contact Deana Gallegos at 303 433-9696 or cdrgallegos@yahoo.com

PLEASE NOTE:  The kitchen is a busy place where important work is done.  Only volunteers who are working should be in there. It is not a place to socialize.  If you need something from the kitchen, let someone on the crew know.

Also, please remember that EVERYONE on the crew is responsible for cleaning at the end of Hamburger Night.

We enjoyed tacos, nachos, drink specials, music, dance, and fun at
5 de mayo HaPpY Hour.  Please forgive me if I left anyone out.  Thank you, Ben Conde, Renaissance Conde, Marie Garcia, Deana Gallegos, Isabel Nuanez, Teresa Quintana-Muniz, and Wanda Mauro-Garcia for your help with cooking, cleaning, serving and tickets.  Thank you, Joelle Zamora-Clausen, and Reina Conde-Armenta for bartending.  Thank you, Ernie Torres, for bar management and keeping our building open. Thank you to everyone who helped close after the game. Too bad that the Nuggets lost.

We will continue to work on the float to have it ready for the Memorial Day Parade. Thank you, Isabel and Dale Nuanez, for opening your home to us to work on this, and for a great meal. Also, thank you Joe Davalos, Marie Garcia, Deana Gallegos, Sofie Gomez, Teresa Quintana-Muniz, Fred Valdez, Pat Valdez, and Wanda Mauro-Garcia for coming to help.  Please forgive me if I left anyone out.

King Soopers Community Rewards Program

We found an EASY way to raise funds for our MHV Services!

AT NO COST TO YOU, OUR MEMBERS!

The Kroger Family of Companies states it is committed to community engagement, positive social impact and charitable giving at the national and local levels. Every community is unique, but Kroger's common goal is to partner with the neighborhoods they serve and help people live healthier lives.

One of the ways in which they do this is through their King Soopers Community Rewards program. This program makes fundraising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping their customers do every day.

Once you link your Rewards Card to "Mile Hi Veteran's Services" all you have to do is shop at King Soopers and swipe your Shopper’s Card or key in you Rewards Number. Here’s how it works:

1. Create a digital account.

A digital account is needed to participate in King Soopers Community Rewards program. If you already have a digital account, simply link your Shopper’s Card to your account so that all transactions apply toward the organization you choose.

2. Link your Card to an organization.

Selecting the organization that you wish to support is as simple as updating the King Soopers Community Rewards selection on your digital account.

1. Sign into your digital account.

2. Search for your organization here.

3. Enter the name "Mile Hi Veteran's Services", or NPO number SC501 of the organization you wish to support.

4. Select the appropriate organization from the list and click “Save”.

Your selected organization will also display in the King Soopers Community Rewards section of your account. If you need to review or revisit your organization, you can always do so under your Account details.

3. Your organization earns.

Any transactions moving forward using the Shopper’s Card number associated with your digital account will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. King Soopers donates annually to participating organizations based on your percentage of spending as it relates to the total spending associated with all participating King Soopers Community Rewards organizations.

If you have any questions, please contact Linda Romero at 303-204-5448.  Also please text when you sign up.  Thanks! :)

King Soopers Customer Service Center.
