Seit 30 Jahren setzt die Internationale Rettungshunde Organisation Maßstäbe in der Rettungshundearbeit. Jüngster Meilenstein unserer Geschichte ist die Einführung des Nationalen IRO Einsatztests, welcher gewährleistet, dass Rettungshundearbeit auf allen Ebenen – regional, national wie international – nur von bestens ausgebildeten und qualifizierten Hundeführern und Hunden ausgeübt wird.

Erster Nationaler
IRO Einsatztest

Nach intensiver Vorarbeit war es endlich so weit: Vom 23. bis 24. April fand der allererste Nationale IRO Einsatztest in der Trümmersuche statt. Ausgetragen wurde die Überprüfung in Zusammenarbeit mit der IRO Mitgliedsorganisation Finn Rescue K9 Association (FRF K9) in Lohja-Espoo, Finnland.
Von den zehn angemeldeten Teilnehmern stellten sich neun den Herausforderungen des Einsatztests, darunter acht Teams aus Finnland und eines aus Estland. Die fünf zu bewältigenden Suchen, davon eine Nachtsuche, wurden in drei unterschiedlichen Arealen durchgeführt. Bewertet wurde die Sucharbeit der Teams von sechs nationalen
IRO Beurteilern, die Unterstützung von drei internationalen IRO Beurteilern erhielten.
Herzliche Gratulation an diese sechs Teams zur bestandenen Einsatzüberprüfung:

Nur durch ein perfektes Zusammenspiel aller Beteiligten war dieser Meilenstein zu schaffen. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an die Organisatoren, Teilnehmer, Beurteiler und Helfer.
Der nächste Nationale IRO Einsatztest in der Trümmersuche findet im August in Kolumbien statt.

Im Rahmen der "Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week" fand am 25. April das INSARAG Steering Group Meeting in Genf statt. Die Lenkungsgruppe tritt jährlich zusammen, um die strategische Ausrichtung und Grundsätze der INSARAG festzulegen. Das Erdbeben in der türkisch-syrischen Grenzregion Anfang Februar war in diesem Jahr ein zentrales Thema.
Eine Delegation der IRO nahm an dem Treffen teil, um die Rettungshundearbeit weiter innerhalb der INSARAG zu etablieren.

Rückblick: IRO MRT Fläche Vorbereitung in Slowenien
|

Vom 21. bis 23. April 2023 fand in Ljubljana, Slowenien, die IRO MRT Fläche Vorbereitung statt, ausgerichtet von unserer Mitgliedsorganisation Društvo vodnikov reševalnih psov Slovenije (DVRPS).
Die teilnehmenden Teams bekamen wertvolle Informationen zum Ablauf und den Anforderungen des IRO Einsatztests in der Flächensuche. Sie konnten ihr Können und ihren Wissensstand in diversen Suchen zeigen. Dabei erhielten sie detailliertes Feedback durch die IRO Beurteiler, welches ihnen ein weiterführendes, auf den MRT ausgerichtetes Training ermöglicht.
Wir bedanken uns bei allen Teilnehmern, Helfern, Beurteilern und den Organisatoren für die gelungene Veranstaltung und wünschen viel Glück für den Einsatztest Ende Mai.

For 30 years, the International Search and Rescue Dog Organisation has been setting standards in search and rescue dog work. The latest milestone in our history is the introduction of the National IRO Mission Readiness Test, which helps to ensure that search and rescue work is carried out only by highly trained and qualified handlers and dogs at all levels – regional, national and international.
A few weeks ago, the first ever IRO National Mission Readiness Test in Rubble Search took place in Finland. More information on the landmark event as well as further news and updates can be found in this issue of the IRO NRO Info.

First National
IRO Mission Readiness Test

After intensive preparations, the time had finally come: the very first IRO National Mission Readiness Test in Rubble Search took place from 23 to 24 April. The test was organised in collaboration with the IRO member organisation Finn Rescue K9 Association (FRF K9) in Lohja-Espoo, Finland.
Nine out of the ten registered participants took on the challenges of the operational test, including eight teams from Finland and one from Estonia. Five searches, one of which was a night search, were carried out in three different areas. The search work of the teams was judged by six national IRO Classifiers, who were supported by three international
IRO Classifiers.
Congratulations to these six teams for passing the mission test:

This milestone could only be achieved through the perfect teamwork of everyone involved. A big thank you to the organisers, participants, classifiers and helpers.
The next National IRO Mission Readiness Test in Rubble Search will take place in Colombia in August.

IRO visits INSARAG in Geneva
|
|
As part of the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week, the INSARAG Steering Group Meeting took place in Geneva on 25 April. The Steering Group meets annually to determine the strategic direction and policies of INSARAG. The earthquake in the Turkish-Syrian border region at the beginning of February was a central topic this year.
A delegation of the IRO participated in the meeting to further establish search and rescue dog work in INSARAG.

Review: IRO MRT Area Preparation in Slovenia
|
|
From 21 to 23 April 2023, the IRO MRT Area Preparation took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, hosted by our member organisation Društvo vodnikov reševalnih psov Slovenije (DVRPS).
The participating teams received valuable information on the process and requirements of the IRO Mission Readiness Test in Area Search. They were able to show their skills and level of knowledge in various searches. In doing so, they received detailed feedback from the IRO Classifiers, helping them to set targeted training steps in view of the upcoming MRT.
We would like to thank all participants, helpers, classifiers and the organisers for the successful event and wish everyone good luck for the mission readiness test at the end of May.
