Confirmation is a public rite of the Church preceded by a period of instruction designed to help baptized Christians identify with the life and mission of the Christian community. The rite of confirmation provides an opportunity for the individual Christian, relying on God's promise given in Holy Baptism, to make a personal public confession of the faith and a lifelong pledge of fidelity to Christ. (Luther’s Small Catechism 1991 CPH)

Jesus said,
“Go, and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

In Baptism... our God began His saving work in each of us through water and the Word.  “Teaching them to obey”, as Jesus commands, is our intention and plan through Junior Confirmation.

For us as Faith, confirmation provides an intensive two years of teaching our youth to prepare them “for the works of service, so that the body of Christ (the church) may be built up... so that we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”  Ephesians 4:12-13 NIV

They are required to commit to worship as a family weekly, learn how to listen to the sermon, regularly attend Bible Class & Sunday School, offer 20+ hours of service, and to memorize critical Scriptures which are intended to be available in mind and heart for a lifetime.

“We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.”  Colossians 1:28 NIV

Confirmation is intended to prepare our sons and daughters for a lifetime of discipleship and faithfulness in Jesus Christ.

This year we are presenting two for affirmation of their baptism in the rite of Confirmation: Dylan Basak and Grazielle Otoo.

Join with us this Sunday, May 14, at the 11am worship service as we witness Dylan Basak and Grazielle Otoo share their faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

May God “… who began (His) good work in them carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.  Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

Pastoral Call Committee Update

The call committee has been hard at work reviewing the list of pastor candidates received from the District President. We have selected an initial set of pastors who we feel could best fit the needs and ministries of our congregation and school. Interviews are being set up over the next several weeks.

This is an especially important time for us all to be praying for the Holy Spirit to guide us through these interviews and in particular, to guide and direct those pastors who we interview. We trust in His judgement and in His timing.

If you have any questions about this part of the call process, please contact me.

Blessings on your day,
Karen Cerny

Please join us on Tuesday, May 23rd, as we celebrate our graduates. All of our students, teachers, and their families have worked hard to reach these educational milestones.

We will recognize our Kindergarten students at 10am and our Eighth Grade students at 7pm.
Vicarages

We have several young men studying to be ministers in the LCMS who will be serving their vicarages this upcoming year.  Please keep them, and their families, in your prayers as they serve these congregations and learn the day-to-day life of leading God's people and sharing His Word.

Nicholas Sinatra will be serving at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Arlington, WI, a small town just north of Madison where he looks forward to serving the families of this 105-yr-old congregation.  More info from Nicholas

Stephen Wareham will be serving at Living Savior Lutheran Church, in Fairfax, VA, where they have a large military presence - perfect for Stephen who is planning to become a military Chaplain!  More info from Stephen

Matt and Katie (nee Onnen) Wilson will be serving at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, in Warner Robins, GA - just down the road!

Security update

In light of recent mass shootings, we have been implementing increased safety measures at Faith Lutheran School. Some of these measures will affect church member access to the school building. Our increased measures are listed below.
  • A school security task force has been established. The task force includes staff, board members, and law enforcement officers.
  • A Cobb County police officer is on site whenever students are present.
  • Parents' key card and key fob access to the school has been turned off.
  • Church members' key card and key fob access to the school has been turned off except for the times shown below.
  • Parents and church members must be buzzed into the school.
  • Faculty and staff will be meeting with Cobb County police officers on May 16 to further develop our emergency lockdown procedures.
  • All staff members have been issued new walkie-talkies for immediate, emergency communication.
  • New emergency lockdown locks have been installed on classroom, office, and cafeteria/kitchen doors.
  • We are planning to add electronic communication devices allowing the Cobb County Police Department real time crime access to our security cameras during an emergency situation.
  • An upcoming security assessment will evaluate our exterior windows and doors.
Many of these improvements come with a cost for protecting our students and staff. A security find has been established to accept school family, staff and church member donations to offset the new security costs. Checks should be designated for security fund.

Most importantly, pray daily for God's protection of students and staff in all schools.

Gordon Stuckert
Principal

Members' key cards/fobs will allow access to the church building 6am - 10pm, 7 d/w.  For the security of the school children and staff, "general" access to the school, gym, and admin buildings is limited to 6:20-8:30pm, Mon-Fri, and 6am - 10pm Sat/Sun.  If access is needed during the school day, please come to the front desk and let us know.

VBS NEEDS Volunteers

We are trying something new, Family Night VBS. We will serve a meal and have fellowship from 5:00pm-5:30pm. We need group leaders that would be willing to donate 2 hours an evening from 5:30pm-7:30pm to work with our children, getting them from activity to activity. We have amazing leaders that have stepped for Bible Study, Science and Crafts, and Games, but they need support. Please use the Signup Genius to help make VBS run smoothly.

Mission of the Month - March, April & May
First Care Women’s Clinic

Thank you for your prayers and support of this organization that is saving babies and helping these young women and men!

First Care Women’s Clinic is an evangelical Christian non-profit organization that was established to reduce abortion by giving the support and information that people need to choose life.

We will be collecting items for the Baby Boutique. There is a basket in the school lobby for donations as well as the church narthex.

The Baby Boutique supports women who have chosen life by providing practical assistance. Clients who attend our Parenting and Prenatal Classes are able to participate in a class baby-shower where they receive new items to help with the first months of motherhood. Through a variety of ongoing classes, mothers earn “points” and are able to use them to shop the boutique. All items provided are free.
