ASSEMBLY BILL 175 CALL TO ACTION
Tell Your Legislators to Stop Degrading Democracy.
Today at 1:00 pm, the Senate Education Committee will hear Assembly Bill 175. AB 175 seeks to subvert democracy and thwart the will of the voters by adding four unelected appointees to the Clark County Board of School Trustees. This non-evidence-based experiment will increase the size of the Board of School Trustees to 11, making it the largest governing school board among the top 10 largest districts in the nation.
Unelected board members will exacerbate dysfunction and gridlock while being free from public accountability. AB 175 will fix exactly zero problems but will create many more in an environment with unelected political appointees able to serve as officers and set the agenda of the Board of School Trustees. These political patronage appointments will give unequal representation to municipalities and special interests while making plain that the most vulnerable students and communities in Southern Nevada are not a priority.
MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD
Don’t let your vote or voice in your school district governance be stripped away in favor of unaccountable political appointees.
