Greetings Friends of the Prairie,

Thank you for your interest in monitoring the rare plants of Chiwaukee Prairie State Natural Area. We need volunteers to count the number of four species of rare plants in 2023.

The first monitoring outing will be on May 13 at 9 AM and the second on May 21 at 1 PM. Completing the counts will take two to three hours on both days. The rare plant monitoring coordinators, Kay McClelland and Kelly Temple, will lead the effort and provide instruction on identifying and counting the targeted plants.

You will be walking in the prairie and should dress accordingly (sturdy shoes, long pants, and tick repellent is recommended). In addition, you will be required to review and sign a confidentiality form from the WI Department of Natural Resources agreeing not to reveal the locations of the plants.

Please get in touch with Kay at kaymac1939@gmail.com or 262-994-1939 if you would like to volunteer or have questions.

We appreciate your help!
