KILIMANJARO MISSIONS
April was a wonderful month. God sent the rains for which so many have prayed. The weather is mercifully cooler. When rainy season does arrive, there is a lot of flooding and all the problems that come with that. There have been many road closures; we were stuck in traffic for two hours one day on our way to Arusha. There are green buds everywhere and the crops in the ground are flourishing. We have been very thankful for our 4x4 vehicle on all the muddy roads.
We started the month with a visit to the church at Boma Ng’ombe. Brother Ibrahim is doing a great job as the preacher. The congregation suffered some thievery and all the windows (including the metal bars) were stolen from their building. Undeterred, they continue meeting and do their best to keep up hope. We intend, with the Kilimanjaro brethren, to assist the church in Boma with their own evangelism efforts.
At the end of February, we held our first Evangelism Day. We split into small groups and canvassed a specific part of town. In one of those groups were Max and our son Claude. Claude and Max met a man named Peter. They talked to him about the church and asked if he would like to study more. He said yes. So, for 2 months various church members have been studying with him. During this time, Peter had a medical emergency and our members showed a lot of concern for him. I think this really made an impact on Peter. A few weeks later, he was baptized. Sometimes evangelism is a team effort, and many people take part in the effort. Beginning with those who support missionaries and local preachers, to young Christians willing to pass out tracts, to those who conduct Bible studies, not forgetting those who check in with the sick or the new converts...anyone can make a difference. There is always room for more workers. God has a use for the talents of all Christians, young or old, new or experienced.
On a personal note, we attended our first Tanzanian wedding. We want to congratulate Elijah & Hamida on their special day. It was very interesting to see the customs and traditions which make up such a happy occasion. It also makes us glad to share in such a joyful event with our brethren.
Anyone who has been to Tanzania will tell you that soccer is a big deal here. Two of the more prominent soccer teams in Tanzania are Simba and YANGA. When they play each other, everyone takes an interest. Claude and I and several of the church members met in a local coffee shop to watch the game. We had a great time, and the Simba fans went home happy!
This month we were blessed with visitors from Arusha. Charles Mwanga and his family came for an afternoon of food and fellowship. We miss seeing our Arusha friends, so it was good to catch up and share work stories. At the end of the month, Nathan & Kristy Ferguson and their children made a long trip from Mbeya region to Moshi to stay with us for a week. The Fergusons are working at the Chimala Mission where my family lived in the '90's. It was great to hear about the work going on there. We hope to visit Chimala at some point this year. Nathan preached for us on Sunday, and Kristi spoke at the ladies seminar on Saturday. They both have such willing hearts for the work of the Lord. Please keep the Fergusons and their efforts in Chimala in your prayers.
We always want to remember to thank those who pray for us, support us financially, bring goodies in their suitcases for us...each one of you is appreciated so very much. Please keep the work in Moshi and in Tanzania at large ever present in your prayers.

In Him,

Noel, Jessica, Lorelai, Claude, Arabella, & Juliette Stafford
