Dear <<First Name>>,

On behalf of all the amazing people in Venezuela, the US and Europe who work on V5 Initiative projects, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for your continued belief in and support of our work. In the last 6 months, our cause has been featured, cited, or mentioned in 400 distinct news articles; we've been visible more than twice a day in the press around the world. This momentum is thanks to a handful of donors, supporting our vision.

World-wide support is necessary, as Venezuela's environmental destruction is now a trans-national problem; illegal and preventable mining-related violence spills over the borders to Brazil and Colombia, and the Amazon's ability to absorb dangerous CO2 is being eroded with every felled tree.

SOSOrinoco and VE360 shed light on Venezuela's multidimensional crisis, serving as conduits for discussion while facilitating remedial action for a future democratic government and its allies. Furthermore, the two organizations educate people around the world by bringing to light the day-to-day reality for indigenous people on the ground. Through the use of the VE360 Geoportal and SOSOrinoco's videos, we've generated over half a million interactions on Twitter since the start of 2023.

Meanwhile, the Porokata Project serves the indigenous people directly affected by the tragedy, and has expanded in 3 years from 4 to 8 distinct Pemon communities, involving 42 "porokatas" (communal family plots) that belong to 35 extended families (about 350 people). With the generous support of the German Embassy in Caracas, we are now putting in place a commercialization plan for the products that these communities are producing.

These important and ground breaking projects exist and have expanded thanks to the support of a handful of foreign governments, foundations and generous donors; in this effort we are reaching out to friends in the Americas and Europe, and of course, we would like to count on the support of Venezuelan individuals and foundations.

All donations for our projects are received and processed by V5 Initiative - a 501(c)(3) - therefore, generally, fully tax deductible for U.S. IRS tax purposes and we will send a receipt for your records.

Checks can be sent to: V5 Initiative, PO Box 40471, Washington DC 20016.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this letter and, most importantly, for your interest in all the important work that our committed and courageous teams in Venezuela and elsewhere are doing. We hope to continue counting on your support as we move to consolidate what we have built and expand the reach of our work.

Gratefully yours,
Cristina V. Burelli
Executive Director
