The Tulips are Gone But Come to Tassel Ridge Winery for the Lilacs

We plant 400 red tulips each year and select three different tulip varieties: one that blooms early, another that blooms late, and the last that blooms in the middle. They are all the same color but it gives us a longer blooming period. The blooms are all gone for this year but we do have lilacs, some of which are very showy. These guys don’t get much care and frankly, some are not memorable. (read more)

In the Vineyard

This Week, We are Pruning Foch, St. Pepin, Itasca, and Verona

We have had nice weather during the daytime hours so we’ve really made great progress with pruning. Itasca and Verona are new varieties that may not be familiar to you. Itasca makes a white wine. It is a grape variety that was developed at the University of Minnesota. Verona makes a red wine and the variety was developed by Tom Plocher from Hugo, Minnesota. (read more)

We will be bottling our very popular Red, White, & Blue for each of the next three weeks before we shift to some other wines. We will also be doing our annual preventative maintenance on our presses and titrator over the next 2–3 weeks.
