Stay Well this Winter 2023 campaign
The Victorian Department of Health has released a campaign promoting influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations this winter. You can share materials from the stakeholder kit with your community – social media tiles, digital flyers and printable posters are all included. Current information for consumers can be found on the Better Health Channel.

Influenza reminders
There have been a number of incorrect Fluad®Quad vaccine encounters reported to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). Vaccination providers are reminded that:

  • Fluad® Quad is only registered in Australia for persons aged 65 years of age and over.
  • Always check the age of the person on the day of vaccination to ensure age-appropriate vaccination is administered.
  • Ensure vaccination reporting software and codes are up-to-date.
  • Check correct vaccine brand is reported to the AIR.
  • Update vaccine encounters immediately if incorrect vaccine reported to AIR.

Report all vaccines administered to AIR.

JEV resources
As per updated Victorian Department of Health advice, there is now sufficient supply for providers to re-commence administration of dose 2 of JEspect. Providers are encouraged to identify and recall existing clients who are due.

Orders are still being taken via immunisation@health.vic.gov.au, not Onelink. In your email, please include your
Onelink vaccine account number, current stock on hand and confirmation that the person meets the specific eligibility criteria to receive JEspect®

Refer to the factsheet for JEspect and Japanese encephalitis vaccine information for more information (updated April 2023).

If your site has excess JEV stock you can transfer to other providers as long as correct cold chain management is followed. If you need assistance, we may be able to connect you with other local providers, email covax@murrayphn.org.au

Japanese Encephalitis (JE) Virus

The vaccine remains free-of-charge for eligible people. More information for providers can be found at NSW Health and the Victorian Department of HealthLocal councils are providing JE vaccinations as part of their vaccination programs: General practice and pharmacy vaccine providers in the Murray PHN region can be found here (updated 22 March).

Murray PHN acknowledges its catchment crosses over many unceded First Nations Countries, following the Dhelkunya Yaluk (Healing River).
We pay our respects and give thanks to the Ancestors, Elders and Young people for their nurturing, protection and caregiving of these sacred lands and waterways, acknowledging their continuing cultural, spiritual and educational practices.
We are grateful for the sharing of Country and the renewal that Country gives us. We acknowledge and express our sorrow that this sharing has come at a personal, spiritual and cultural cost to the wellbeing of First Nations peoples. We commit to addressing the injustices of colonisation across our catchment, and to listening to the wisdom of First Nations communities who hold the knowledge to enable healing.
We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Murray PHN (ABN 92 156 423 755) acknowledges the financial and other support from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
