Wednesday Member's Night!
(Tomorrow the 17th May, 2023)

The Wednesday Member's nights are back for 2023! To keep members engaged we are organising a few interesting workshops and talks. The first one will be held tomorrow Wednesday 17th May. One of our members, who is a firefighter commander, will share his knowledge and chat to us about the harsh reality of experiencing a fire onboard whilst at anchor or underway.
He will share tips and hints on servicing your fire extinguishers, early detection of fires, how fires are extinguished including cooking fires and will also touch on the hazard posed by lithium batteries. A truly informative session with time allocated for Q & A.

The Yot will be open for dinner from 6pm until 7:30pm

Lock the date in: Wednesday 17 May at 6:30pm

Next talk: Wednesday 31st May
Member Engagement Survey

Next week all members will receive an email about the recently developed Member Engagement Survey. A link to the survey questions will be provided in the email, however please contact the office if you would prefer to complete a printed version.

We are determined to reach out to everyone who has a voice, and that is every member. Your participation in the survey will help us better understand our Club and how it is working.

All survey responses will be collated, providing measured and valuable information about the relationship RGYC members have with the Club. The results will help guide the future direction of RGYC and will be presented to members during information sessions throughout July and August. It is also anticipated that several focus groups will be established to examine areas that need closer attention and member participation in these groups will be encouraged and welcome.

We appreciate that your privacy is important and once the survey has been recorded, any identifying information will be destroyed.  No personally identifying information will be kept unless you provide specific permission for us to follow up with you.

The questions will take about 10 -15 minutes to complete, and you are encouraged to take this brief time to help us provide a more positive Club for all members.

Contribute to RGYC’s Corinthian 2023 Magazine

We have been enjoying another season of sailing, boating and social events at Royal Geelong Yacht Club. As the season draws to a close this is an invitation to all RGYC Members to contribute to our annual magazine, “Corinthian”.

Corinthian is a record of our major events, the weekly joys and struggles of yacht racing in its many forms and other significant activities of the Club. It is also a means of telling the stories of the adventures of many sailing members. We have enjoyed stories of ocean racing, cruising the Kimberly region, the Queensland coast and the circumnavigations of Tasmania. Various learn to sail programs provide great stories of challenges being met and goals achieved.

What can members write about for this edition of Corinthian?

The Club’s dinghy sailors learn to sail and participate in many regattas in Victoria and interstate so there could be stories from our members who enjoy those events.

Are you a volunteer at RGYC? Thank you for what you do. Please tell us how volunteering at the Club is a positive experience for you and your team members.

Are you a program leader? You may wish to have a story of what your group has done so far and what is planned for 2024.

We have already received many photos of RGYC people and events. If you have some images that you think would suit Corinthian, please consider sending them to the Club. Clear identification of the event pictured is essential. Select the best!

The magazine is currently produced by Chris Williams (Editor) and the team of Phil Clohesy (General Manager), Steve Hassell (Partnerships) Drew Malcolm (Sailing Manager) and Adcell Media.

If you wish to contribute material for Corinthian 2023, please contact the Editor via
info@rgyc.com.au to ensure that we can use the material you offer. Please read last year’s edition (available at the Club) to see the size and types of articles we can include.
Corinthian is created by the people of RGYC.
