Ascension Day Eucharist: Thursday, May 18, 8:30 a.m. On this feast day preceding the Seventh Sunday of Easter, we remember Jesus’s ascension into the heavens. Join us for Morning Prayer at 8:00 a.m., followed by Holy Eucharist at 8:30 a.m.

The Abundant Life Garden Project (“VBS”): Registration open now through May 14. How can we worship God’s creation with care, reverence, and thanksgiving? What work can we do with our hands and in our daily life? How do we nurture this response in our children? This summer, July 10–14 and 16, St. Peter’s will be offering a week-long formation opportunity for children ages 4–12 (“Vacation Bible School”) where we will continue to explore these gifts and our responses to them. All parishioners, regardless of age are invited to participate on-site or in preparation for the week. We will be using an adapted curriculum, the “Abundant Life Garden Project,” created by Episcopal Relief and Development that will combine St. Peter’s charism of ecojustice with the Book of Common Prayer. Adult Forum, Sundays, 9:45 a.m., Community Room. Easter Mourning: Conversations about Loss and Grief “All of us go down to the dust; yet even at the grave we make our song: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.” As Easter people we lean into the hope of everlasting life that Christ revealed to us. This doesn't mean we never experience loss or grieve for who or what we have lost. Grieving is as natural as loving; in fact, it is love that bids our grieving. Led by Mother Sally and parishioner Dan Busch, this series will look at sources of grief, offer insights into how we can acknowledge and even embrace our grief through the compassion of mourning, and hear stories from those who have learned to walk with grief and can share what has been helpful to them in the mourning process. May 14: Mourning and Healing; May 2: Being a Companion on the Way.

Save the Date: Adult Confirmation Retreat, Saturday, September 23, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. This year, rather than doing a multi-week adult confirmation class, we will offer a one day retreat for those interested in being Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church, or who wish to Reaffirm their faith. Participants are asked to read the book Walk in Love: Episcopal Beliefs and Practices by Scott Gunn and Melody Wilson Shobe prior to the retreat. Those interested must be available for the entire retreat day and plan to be at church on October 1 at the 11:00 a.m. service for the Bishop’s Visitation. Save the Date: Youth Confirmation Retreat for young people who will be between the ages of 15 and 17, September 23 and 24 at The Oratory in Rock Hill. Following our Pilgrimage, we will prepare for confirmation on this retreat as we participate in four one-hour confirmation lessons, three meals together, worship, and lots of discussion to prepare for confirmation on October 1. Walking Tour of Uptown to Learn about Charlotte’s History and Racism. Sunday, May 21, 2:00 p.m. Registration is limited to 20 people; cost is $15 each. Greg Jarrell, the co-founder of QC Family Tree, a local non-profit dedicated to social justice, will lead us on a thought-provoking walk through uptown Charlotte during which we will examine what is and is not present, and thereby hope to see more clearly the past and present of our city. The walk begins at the Square (Trade and Tryon) and ends at the parking lot of First Baptist Church (301 S. Davidson St.), covering three miles over approximately two hours. Feed the Red Bins. Loaves & Fishes, Mecklenburg County’s largest food pantry, is seeing its greatest rise in the need for food assistance in its almost 50 years of existence. Bring food to church on Sundays (or anytime). Priority needs are: canned meat, canned fruit (low sugar), pasta, peanut butter, canned vegetables (low sodium)—and also diapers (large size). The red Loaves and Fishes donation bins are located in the Parish House Lobby and in the Narthex.

Galilee Ministries of East Charlotte / Loaves and Fishes Volunteer Opportunity. Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry is in need of pantry volunteers to help clients with selecting food. The pantry at Galilee is a “shopping like” experience, not just box filling, and volunteers provide valuable assistance to our neighbors. St. Luke’s Guild: Chronic Care Support Group. Father Keith Lane and parishioner Dan Busch, LCSW (retired), facilitate this fellowship for persons with chronic illnesses of any sort and those who are caregivers of family and friends. AutoBell Gift Cards are on sale through our Youth Program. The Pilgrim Class of 2023 are selling these $20 gift cards to help provide funding for our Pilgrimage this summer. Each $20 gift card can be used for any kind of wash at any AutoBell and they never expire. AutoBell recycles and cleans the wash water, making this much better for the planet than washing your car in the driveway. Our youth program receives half of the sale price of the gift cards. Dish towels needed in the St. Peter’s kitchen. If you have gently used or new dish cloths that you can donate to the St. Peter’s kitchen, drop them off in the workroom kitchen and the hospitality committee will transfer them to the upstairs kitchen.

Youth would like to pray for you on Pilgrimage. As our youth prepare for their Holy Pilgrimage, June 13–23, we would like to encourage parishioners to send us prayer requests so that our pilgrims may offer your prayers as a way to include our whole community in our pilgrimage. We will offer all prayers submitted at St. Paul’s Within-the-Walls Epsicopal Church in Rome, at San Damiano Chapel in Assisi, and at the Duomo in Milan. St. Peter’s Goes to the Knights Game, Friday, August 11, 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to a parish-wide outing to a Charlotte Knights game on August 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Truist Field. These photos are incredibly helpful as staff, volunteers, and parishioners seek to connect with one another for ministries, visits, and fellowship. Right now, only a very small percentage of profiles include a photo. If you do not have a photo, or if your photo is outdated, please consider uploading a new one. Simply log into Realm, go to your profile, and click on the photo box next to your name. You can then upload the photo of your choice.
