Workday - Thursday, May 18

For our monthly Thursday workday we will focus on clearing the Rainbow Trail from CR101 (Bear Creek) toward Kerr Gulch.  From Salida, ride/drive southeast on Hwy 50 to CR101. We will meet at the Columbine Trailhead (three miles up CR1010) at 5 pm.

You will need to ride your motorcycle up to the Rainbow (about 2.5 miles) and then onto the Rainbow.  We will have chainsaws and handsaws but if you have a personal one, bring it.

These workdays are an opportunity for CCMR volunteers to help maintain the trails we all love to ride.  You can respond to the invite on the CCMR Facebook page - or just meet up with us at 5 pm at the Columbine Trailhead.
Saturday, May 20 - Touch-A-Truck

Plan on kids sitting in the cab of all sorts of vehicles:  Fire, Police, Bucket Truck - climbing on the bumpers, tooting the horn, and taking selfies.  And of course CCMR volunteers are bringing their dirt and trial bikes of all sizes.

CCMR enjoys supporting this community event.  Giving kids of all ages the opportunity to sit on a variety of dirt and trials bikes is rewarding.  Stop by the booth for stickers, swag (CCMR T-shirts, hoodies, hats, ladies' V and razorback Ts), maps showing our adopted trails, and dirt talk.

Saturday, June 3 - National Trails Day

Last year, for National Trails Day, CCMR and SMT led 50+ volunteers in a joint maintenance project that put more than $10,000 worth of work into the Rainbow Trail near Salida. A similar project is planned for National Trails Day this year, on June 3rd.

“Last year’s National Trails Day workday with the Salida Ranger District and SMT was a huge success.” said CCMR president Bob Daniel. “CCMR looks forward to the joint National Trails Day workday on the Rainbow Trail again this year. There is a lot of synergy between the two clubs with the common goal to make the Rainbow Trail a better experience for all users.”

“The 8-mile-long segment we’ve co-adopted is a stellar route in its own right, and an important link to other trails on Methodist Mountain,” said Jon Terbush, executive director of Salida Mountain Trails. “SMT and CCMR have done terrific work together in the past, so it was a no-brainer to further our partnership with this agreement to make the Rainbow Trail even better.”

More details to follow on this important collaborative event.

Stickers
The new collectible 2024 CCMR stickers that replicate the colors of the Colorado Parks and Recreation OHV stickers have arrived!

A reminder that you are required to purchase the appropriate OHV stickers - valid from April 1 through March 31 each year and required annually. Most of CCMR's grant monies - to preserve, maintain, and expand single track trails - comes from OHV sticker purchases. And your CCMR membership and volunteer hours helps us obtain those grants.

If you joined CCMR or renewed this year, you will receive the 2024 collectible version in the mail while they last.
