WAKE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETINGS
Update: We will be attending the Tuesday, May 2 meeting at 5:30 p.m. with Carolina Teachers Alliance. Feel free to wear a CTA t-shirt or white t-shirt if you have one. We'll be meeting inside the board room at 5:30. Sign up to speak if you'd like.
Parents and community members, please attend one of the upcoming Wake County Board of Education meetings to show support and voice your opinion. Sign up to speak at www.wcpss.net/Page/3727 starting at 11:30 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
Important topics being discussed at the meetings are the 2023-24 superintendent's proposed budget, the superintendent search and changes to Policy 3210 (Parental Inspection of and Objection to Instructional Materials).

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
This week the NC House passed dozens of pieces of legislation which included bills banning hostile foreign governments from buying farmland, protecting firefighters from cancer-causing foam, enhancing school safety exercises, improving safety standards for city parades and empowering credit unions to better serve rural and underserved areas.

APEX PEAKFEST MAY 6
Sign up below help with our Apex Peakfest event Saturday, May 6th. We are partnering with the Apex Republican Club again this year. We will be greeting festival goers and inviting them to our clubs. Candidates are welcome to join us to hand out materials at our booth.

FREEDOM PICNIC JUNE 3
Join us Saturday, June 3 for our 3rd Annual Freedom Picnic and Pie Bake Off!
Featured speakers Clarence Henderson and Mark Cavaliero will share their stories and thoughts on freedom.
Western Wake is providing the burgers, hot dogs and beverages. Please bring a side to share. Let us know you (and your family) are coming below. Then we'll know how many burgers and hot dogs to buy.
And, if you are feeling competitive, bring a pie to enter in the competition. Also, let us know if you'd like to be a judge for the pie contest. Be sure to sign up below.
