To the Burr Ridge Community,

We welcome May with open arms as it marks the start of our new fiscal year and brings sunnier days! A sign of refreshment all around, this season excites us to spend time outdoors and celebrate the various Village events as a community.

Naturally, as warmer temperatures set in, we expect to see more bicyclists and motorcyclists around the Village area, so we encourage you to be courteous, share the road and drive safely. Your safety is always a top priority, whether attending a special event, biking down the street or strolling your neighborhood sidewalks, we are committed to making continued improvements to procedures and infrastructure that allow our residents and visitors to navigate safely within the Village and enjoy all that our beautiful area has to offer.

A strong community is one that gives back. Our Burr Ridge Police Department is actively engaged with a number of regional philanthropic efforts and there will be a number of ways you can get involved and give this summer. The Willowbrook & Burr Ridge Police Departments will be participating in the 2023 Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics of Illinois on Friday, May 19th. Read more below. Later this summer, our officers will be participating in the 19th Annual COPS Cycle Across Illinois, an annual ride-along charity put on by Illinois C.O.P.S. that raises money for the families of fallen police officers that were lost in the line of duty. You can learn more about this cause here

Sincerely,

Mayor Gary Grasso

Lawn Sprinkling Restrictions

Beginning May 15th, Lawn sprinkling restrictions are in effect until September.
  • Residents north of 83rd Street may sprinkle Monday, Thursday and Saturday from Midnight to Noon and 6 p.m. to Midnight.
  • Residents south of 83rd Street may sprinkle Tuesday, Friday and Sunday during the same times.
  • No sprinkling is permitted on Wednesdays or any day from Noon to 6 p.m.
You can view all watering restrictions under the "Residents Services" section of the Village Website, as well as other important resources and information for residents here

Share the Road

For drivers, sharing the road begins with the awareness and understanding that bicyclists and motorcyclists have the same rights as you. They also face unique safety challenges, such as being smaller and less visible. Look for cyclists where vehicles do not appear, like before making a left-hand turn at an intersection. Join us in helping to keep everyone safe on the road. Remember, no one — no driver, cyclist, or pedestrian — has sole rights to the road. It’s a shared space where we all have rights and responsibilities.

Salute to Service

Join us on Saturday, May 20th at the Veterans Memorial for our Armed Forces Day Celebration, hosted by the Burr Ridge Veterans Memorial Committee. This year’s event will feature a keynote speech by Brigadier Martin C. Jung, a musical salute to the Armed Forces by the West Suburban Concert Band, and the presentation of the 2023 Jack Schaus’ Patriot Award. All are invited to attend!Join us in honoring and saluting those who serve across all branches of the United States military.

Concerts on the Village Green

Next month! Concerts on the Green is back and better than ever. The Village of Burr Ridge and Burr Ridge Village Center bring you a variety of musical talent with a selection of contemporary, rock, classic, jazz, southern rock and country bands to the Village Green each Thursday starting June 1st - July 27th, with special double-header performances the last two weeks. We cannot wait to gather with you and enjoy a fantastic lineup of musical acts right here in the heart of Burr Ridge.

Your Mental Health Matters

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, established in 1949 to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness in Americans’ lives and to celebrate recovery from mental illness. The Village will be partnering with DuPage County to help launch a public awareness digital advertising campaign to promote the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, which offers 24/7 call, text, and chat access to highly trained crisis counselors who can help people experiencing suicidal, substance use, and/or mental health crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress. People worried about a loved one who may need crisis support can also call, text or chat 988 for assistance. Mental health affects ALL of us. Help us get the word out and start the conversation today!

Good Deeds and Donuts

Save the date! Cop on a Rooftop is a fun, unique and easy way to raise money for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.
