A Student Ministry Summer
 
A summer at RUMC and Roswell Student Ministry means a lot of different things—mission trips, beach trips, ice cream, roller skating, Bible study, summer interns, hanging out with your friends at the Dod, and a whole lot more. 

Here a few details about our upcoming summer and how you can join in: 

Mission Trips to Alaska, West Virginia, and Tuskegee, AL 

-Alaska - June 2-10. This trip is closed. 

-West Virginia - June 17-24. This trip is open to all current 8th-12th grade students.  

-Tuskegee, AL- June 17-24. This trip is open to all current 5th-8th grade students. 

North Georgia Conference Summer Beach Camp - July 7-10 at Laguna Beach Christian Retreat Center in Panama City Beach, FL 

We will be joining hundreds of students from youth groups across the Conference for special guest speakers and worship led by SING LOVE WORSHIP, our worship band at AYL! This trip is open to all students currently in 5th-12th grades! 

Summer Sundays

June 11 - MS Walk to Ice Cream; HS Ponce City Market Trip 

June 25 - 80s Roller Skating Party for MS and HS 

July 16 - Kickball at Roswell Area Park for MS and HS 

July 23 - MS Stone Mountain Trip; HS KWar/Capture the Flag 

Weekly Programming 

Sunday School - Each Sunday beginning May 28 and ending August 6, our summer interns will teach Sunday School classes from 10-11 a.m. in the Dod. 

12:12 - Weekly Bible study for MS students on select Thursdays from 1:12 until 2 p.m. Check out our website for exact dates. 

Crossroads - All HS and college students are invited to join us for a weekly worship service in the Upper Room of the Dod on Wednesday nights from 7:30-9 p.m.  

Hootenanny - Sunday, August 6 from 6-8 p.m. 

It has been our tradition for 12 years to end the summer with a big ol’ Hootenanny! This serves as the end of the summer and a goodbye to our summer interns. You never know what crazy stuff the interns will plan for their final event!

 We will be holding in-person Sunday worship services led by Dr. Tom Davis at 9 and 11:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary. A digital bulletin will be available at rumc.com/sundays.

The Commons Project Update

This week the underground storm water system was completed and connected to the existing system under the driveway at the sanctuary; site grading work neared completion; final repairs and preparations were made to the pavilion deck frame; and work continued on wall footings and concrete block.  Next week the pavilion will be stained; installation of new composite decking on the pavilion will commence; the driveway island will be removed; and work will continue on wall footings and block.

Meals with RUMC
 
Roswell UMC is hosting dine-in Community and Fellowship Lunches in the Fellowship Hall every Tuesday. Also join us for Wednesday Night Supper every Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall. Take-out and frozen meals will also be available for purchase. Pre-order and find all the details here. 
RUMC Job Networking 
 
RUMC  Job Networking wants to help you with your job search. Join us on Monday, May 8 for workshops starting at 2 p.m. For complete agenda, visit our website. 
Men's Dinner 
 
Join us for great food and fellowship, live music, and a message from guest speaker and author Matt McKee on Thursday, May 11, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Tickets can be purchased at our website. For questions contact Kevin Barre.
Sing with the Sanctuary Choir 
 
Sing with the Sanctuary Choir for their annual Patriotic Celebration Concert! Rehearsals will be on Wednesday evenings in May and June from 7-8:30 p.m. No auditions and no long-term commitments are necessary. For information, contact Ann Moore.
Mother's Day Brunch
 
Mother's Day Brunch will be served in Fellowship Hall immediately following the 11:15 services. Brunch is free for all but donations are greatly appreciated. Pre-register at our website. 
Wesley Woods Mother's Day Offering
 
The Wesley Woods Mother's Day offering provides critical funding for older adults living in a Wesley Woods Community. You can give by placing a check in the offering plate made payable to: RUMC and designate on the memo line "Mother's Day Offering" or online.
Second Sunday Communion
 
Join us Sunday, May 14 in the Chapel at 8:30 a.m. for a 30-minute service which includes the sacrament of Holy Communion, a short meditation, music, and a time of prayer. 
The RUMC Book Club
 
The RUMC Book Club extends an open invitation to its next meeting in the Roswell UMC library on Tuesday, May 16 at 10 a.m. Come join the discussion of this month's selection, Carnegie's Maid by Marie Benedict. For information, contact Betty Hunt.
Burgers and Bluegrass
 
Enjoy delicious burgers, live Bluegrass music, and inflatables for the kids on your way to Alive in Roswell on Thursday, May 18. The fun gets started at 4:30 p.m. on the The Porch at 846 Mimosa Blvd.  
RUMC Preschool & Kindergarten
 
RUMC Preschool & Kindergarten has limited openings for the 2023-24 school year. This SACS/AdvancED accredited program serves children 18 months through kindergarten. For more Information or to schedule a tour: 770.998.8699 or visit our website.
The RUMC Library
 
The RUMC Library in the Chapel building Parlor has a wonderful selection of books, DVDs, and puzzles for all ages with easy self-checkout available. Donations of bestsellers or puzzles in good condition are welcome. 
The Giving Garden

D.A.R.E. 
 
D.A.R.E. (Disaster Assistance and Recovery Effort) is RUMC’s mission team that responds to natural disasters across Georgia and neighboring states. If you are interested in joining one of our teams, contact Leonard Scarboro, 706.340.2221. 
 
Special Needs Sunday School Class: RUMC is looking at providing a safe and loving Sunday School class for elementary-age children with special needs. If you would like to be part of a creative team that would provide loving support and encouragement to these children, or if you know a child with special needs (K-5) who could benefit from this program, contact Bailey Farmer.
