Koinonia Prayer List

PRAYER REQUESTS (joys and concerns) should be called in or e-mailed to the church office. With your permission, they will be listed in the Koinonia prayer list, and announced in worship so that the church family can pray for the mentioned needs. Please keep the office updated on the requests.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.   Romans 8:26

  • From the Presbytery of the Ohio Valley (POV) - Week of May 7th Main St. Presbyterian Church, Petersburg Elder Rob Henson Main Street Presbyterian Church is located at 910 Main Street in Petersburg, Indiana and was founded in 1821 as part of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The present building was first dedicated in 1886. In September 1905 the Old School Presbyterian and the Cumberland Presbyterian churches of Petersburg voted to unite. The actual union took place in November of 1906, and the present building became the home of the united churches, named Main Street Presbyterian Church. Rob Henson is our Ruling Elder for Preaching and Pastoral Care. We are a small congregation striving to make a big difference in our community. Helping others has always been a priority for us. We have a strong scholarship program that provides financial aid for members, their children and their grandchildren. We have sponsored concerts, both in house and at other venues, for both Christian groups and classical performers. Our mission is to be an example of Christ's love for others and a resource for our community's needs - spiritually, physically, and financially. We currently both sponsor and participate in many community help programs including our local food and clothing bank, community festivals, school enhancement programs and mission trips.

Weekly Prayers
Morning and Evening:

We pray that the overflowing love
you have for all your children
finds space in everyone’s heart.

We pray for healing,
and your miraculous mending touch
that it may help heal the physical,
emotional and spiritual wounds
that have been created by others.

Grant us, O God, the wisdom
and emotional understanding
to realize that we are allowed
to feel hurt and betrayal
and to know that you grieve with us.
Help us to understand
that fear can be overcome,
as you have shown us what it means
to live with courage
and to know that death
does not have the final word.

Equip us to share our own feelings
of pain, loss, emptiness,
sadness, fear and anger,
freely with others and with you.
Amen.
