Partner meeting catchup

We had a fantastic Partners meeting in partnership with Lancaster University Management School last week with a focus on Accessibility and Sustainability.

As well as a whistle stop update from Marketing Lancashire we must extend huge thanks to Dr Leighanne Higgins who delivered a really engaging overview on her project The Marketplace and I: Championing Accessibility, and to Professor Jan Bebbington who delivered a thought provoking talk on the big picture of sustainability and climate change, focussing on global sustainable development goals and how the most worrying issues are being addressed.

The buzz from attendees during the refreshment break was fantastic and really valuable conversations were being had.

Below, you will find all of the useful links to support and opportunities which we spoke about in our Marketing Lancashire update.

For those who were unable to attend the event, you can read a write up of the event here.

Funded Accessibility training – The Marketplace and I.

Based on an art based project undertaken at Lancaster University, Dr Leighanne Higgins and Dr Killian O’Leary are offering funded training to provide your company with greater accessibility awareness.

Using novel accessibility focused tasks they can help your company to develop accessible strategies for the short, medium and long term.

This is a brilliant, thought provoking workshop which is delivered in a unique way, using artworks created by and exploring disabled person’s commercial experiences to raise awareness of accessibility issues and improve access and widen inclusion in companies.

Several of our partners are already benefiting from exploring this workshop, and the feedback after Wednesday’’s overview was fantastic.  This project is only funded until July so don’t  wait to register your interest.

Short-term lets are an integral part of the infrastructure of the UK’s visitor economy, however the guest accommodation sector has changed significantly over the last fifteen years.  There are concerns about inconsistencies within the regulatory framework for the guest accommodation sector:

DCMS published a call for evidence. The purpose was to gather information that would improve the government’s understanding of the benefits and challenges of short-term lets across England.  Three possible approaches have been identified for what type of scheme may be implemented.
