GIVE LOCAL YORK for beautiful new RAIL TRAIL MILES!
GLY DONATE HERE
Love your rail trails?
Give for more rail trails!

GIVE LOCAL YORK IS MAY 4-5, 2023.
Newly hired Executive Assistant Denise Tushingham raises her arms high for new trail miles, while the Rail Trail Authority’s Executive Director Gwen Loose steps cautiously over this railroad bridge. The bridge is part of the Authority’s 2020 purchase of 8.5 miles of dormant rail corridor to expand the Hanover Trolley Trail.

Your GIVE LOCAL YORK donation supports the Rail Trail Authority’s work to build new trail miles. Construction costs for one mile of new trail are currently estimated at $800,000. And while the Authority has been successful in capturing state and federal grants for this work, these grants require local matching funds and they do not cover the Authority’s annual operating costs. Please give generously & raise your arms high for more rail trails! Hurrah!

TWO GENEROUS DONORS MATCH YOUR GIFT.
An anonymous rail trail enthusiast offers a “Rise ‘n Shine” Match for those early morning runners and cyclists who get their daily dose of sunrise on the rail trail. Friday morning, May 5, donations will be matched up to $1,000.  If you over sleep, no problem – it will be morning somewhere!

IRE Investment Real Estate offers a 25th Anniversary Match to all gifts received until their $1,000 match pool is depleted. We thank these special donors and invite you to take advantage of having your donation matched 1:1 – that is, your $25 donation becomes $50 until these match pools are depleted.

ENJOY A COLLECTION OF PHOTOS.
And imagine your donation at work to build more trail miles.

HANOVER TROLLEY TRAIL NEWS
Spring Grove completes trail restoration.
Many, many thanks to Spring Grove Borough for restoring the trail surface between Constitution Ave. and Hershey Rd. following the completion of their sewer upgrade project. We ask that visitors walk and cycle carefully until the new surface can harden. We also encourage local residents to express thanks to their Borough manager, staff, and council members who value local recreational assets and work very hard to maintain, improve, and expand parks and trails for all to enjoy. Spring Grove Borough office contacts may be found at www.springgrovepa.gov.

MetEd electric upgrade scheduled for May-July & Sept.-Dec.
In the coming months, visitors to the Hanover Trolley Trail’s Penn Township section will experience temporary lane restrictions and trail closures as MetEd, a First Energy company, completes several upgrades to their electric infrastructure near Barnhart Drive. At all times, trail visitors are to observe posted signs, restrictions, and barricades.

For additional information including updates on these projects, please contact Mahdi Sadiqi, PE at 785-317-1310 or Brian Wright, Construction Site Coordinator, at 717-215-5319.
