Field Notes: A Dialogue and Dinner Series
|
|
|
THIS SUNDAY! A few tickets remain for our 2nd Field Notes Dialogue & Dinner fundraiser series.
We will honor the ‘New York Oyster King’ and celebrated abolitionist, Thomas Downing. The evening will commence with Bloody Marys and a raw bar featuring oysters from Downing's own birthplace of Chincoteague Island off the coast of Virginia prepared by guest shucker Gardner Douglas; while vibing to the live sounds of trumpeter’s Brandon Woody’s trio.
Dinner will be prepared by the amazing chef-activist Kurt Evans highlighting some of best offerings from the Chesapeake Bay. Guests will engage in a spirited discussion led by Deb Freeman, of Whetstone Radio’s ‘Setting the Table’ podcast, about the life and legacy of Thomas Downing.
A silent art auction will also take place; guests can bid on pieces from celebrated artists Pierre Bennu of exittheapple and renowned photographer I. Henry Phillips Sr.
Join us in celebrating the contributions of history’s greatest agricultural and culinary minds!

Last month Marvin Hayes of the Baltimore Compost Collective led our first Field Day workshop of the season! Together we built a compost pile and learned that with the right recipe of carbon, nitrogen, air and water, food scraps can transform into black gold! We sifted one of Marvin’s finished piles (4 months in the making) and saw the final product...beautiful nutrient rich compost. We've got more Field Days scheduled, come learn with us! If you get your electricity from Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) or any other utility in Neighborhood Sun's utility region, you can save money on your electricity bill each month by powering your home with renewable energy generated right here in the Baltimore area!
Community solar works much like a community garden: just like you can get a share of land for your garden, you can get a share of a solar farm for your home's electricity. Hundreds of homeowners and apartment renters can tap into the shared electricity from a nearby solar farm at a price 5-30% lower than the utility's rates--guaranteed.
That means NO solar panels on your roof or property, NO cost to join or cancel, and NO change in your utility company. Help us shift our energy systems away from fossil fuels and invest in a invest in a better future for our city and region.
When you sign up Sign up through this link, $75 will be donated to The Farm Alliance and you'll get a $25 gift card to Woodberry kitchen.
