Charlotte Choir School

Charlotte Choir School is gearing up for a busy end to the 2022-2023 season. On May 12 and 13, the Choir School will present Song in Bloom: The Spring Concerts. The concerts will take place here at St. Peter’s starting at 7:30 p.m. This concert is a wonderful opportunity to support Charlotte Choir School and see how hard the choristers have been working this season. Concert tickets are available online at charlottechoirschool.org.

Following the spring concerts is Discovery Night on Tuesday, May 23, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This event will include an information session and open auditions for individuals interested in being a part of Charlotte Choir school for the 2023–2024 program year. Interested parties will also have the chance to watch the Tour Choirs perform as well as sing alongside them during Discovery Night. It’s a great way for potential choristers to get a glimpse at what it would be like to be part of the Choir School. For additional information about auditions, please email Artistic Director Elizabeth Lenti (elenti@st-peters.org).

In June, the Tour Choirs will go on their first long-distance domestic tour since 2019 to Tennessee. The Choristers will perform in Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville. Tour is an exciting experience for choristers as they develop essential life skills and strengthen their musicianship. For information about how you can support Charlotte Choir School’s Tour expenses, contact Program Coordinator Hunter Rigsby (hrigsby@charlottechoirschool.org).

The MasterSingers will fly to the United Kingdom in July to complete a week-long residency at Wells Cathedral in Wells. The England residency is the highlight of the MasterSingers experience and something that all choristers look forward to during their journey through the Choir School. For many choristers, this is a life-altering experience that showcases their ability as talented musicians and their maturity and independence as they prepare to head out into the world. To learn how to support the MasterSingers and their England residency, email Program Coordinator Hunter Rigsby (hrigsby@charlottechoirschool.org).

There is so much to look forward to in the coming months. For thirty years, the mission at Charlotte Choir School has been to enrich and strengthen young lives through excellent, rigorous music education and choral performance. Through support from our community and St. Peter’s, the Choir School strives to continue this endeavor for years to come.

Voices raised.
