Session Highlights
At its regular meeting on March 21st the Session:

  • Approved serving Communion at the April 6 Maundy Thursday service.
  • Approved allowing a new AA group to meet at the church.
  • Heard a report about the need for possible technology upgrades related to staff computers. Stacie Johnson will follow up as liaison to the tech team.
  • Heard that the nominating committee has started its work on a slate of elders and deacons to be elected in June.
  • Decided that session liaisons will contact the ministry support teams to seek clarity on their responsibilities, current membership and leadership, and to learn how session can support them.
  • Empowered David Walton to act on the church’s behalf in conducting an analysis of future options regarding the Osgood property.
  • Responded to a request from Tall Timber for funds to maintain the Lake Forest Park cabin. Approved a one-time donation of $385 for immediate projects needed, and a monthly gift of $100 for ongoing maintenance for a period of one year. Voted to invite Tall Timber’s director come speak to the congregation.
  • Agreed with the proposal from Boy Scout Troop 348 that they convert the Spring Good Turn Brunch into an opportunity to serve the church by doing grounds clean up and/or replacing the spring brunch with a September BBQ.

At its April 25th stated meeting:

  • Pastor Janet shared that Tall Timber’s director is currently unavailable to speak here. Stacie Johnson volunteered to promote Tall Timber summer camps at the May 6 worship service, and convey the director’s gratitude for the gift from LFPPC.
  • Session supported Jessie Elenbaas’ desire to bring the message some Sunday morning, sharing what she has learned about seeking God in the midst of transition.
  • Session agreed with a request from staff members to meet with them periodically.
  • Session strongly reaffirmed Pepitas as a ministry of the church. Liaison Jessie Elenbaas will work Director Melissa Robertson on messaging so there is a clear understanding within the congregation.
  • Session discussed feedback from the Children, Family, and Youth MST regarding their current needs, and is discerning how best to support them.

Session empowered Donna Bensley to act as LFPPC’s liaison to the Presbyterian Foundation, to research and possibly organize and make available options for legacy giving.

This Sunday 5/7

FAMILY SINGERS
Singers of all ages are invited to come learn some songs from different parts of the world.  We will meet this Sunday (5/7) in Heritage Hall after worship (feel free to bring your coffee/treat over from Fellowship Hall).  Contact Tim Cromeenes (tim@lfppc.org) with any questions.

There is NO PRICE to attend the Vision House luncheon, so grab some friends and REGISTER to support this incredible local ministry.
Want a Name Badge?

Maybe you have seen some me people wearing nametags on Sunday morning? Wondering where you can get one for yourself?  Take a look on the back wall in the sanctuary foyer for examples and a sign up sheet.
Are you interested in becoming a member
of Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church?

If so, talk to Pastor Janet or email her at Janet@lfppc.  If there's sufficient interest, a class will be offered. Attending the class doesn’t commit a person to joining. It's a chance to explore what it means to be a church member and a Presbyterian. Those who decide to make that commitment will be received into membership during a worship service.
Do you have an interest in playing ukulele?  Do you have access to one, want to do something with it, and are anywhere between experienced or beginner?  If so, contact Tim Cromeenes at tim@lfppc.org to express your interest and availability to gather, learn, and enjoy making music together!  (Also, contact Tim if you have a ukulele and DON’T have any interest in using it—perhaps we can find it a happy home).
PNC
The Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) has entered the next phase of our pastoral search. Our church's Ministry Information Form (MIF) will be posted and live on the Church Leadership Connection (CLC) by Friday. This means we will soon start receiving Personal Information Forms (PIFs) from interested pastors, and batches selected automatically by the CLC from pastors who meet our criteria.
While the PNC looks through these PIFs to narrow down our search, you may have pastors who you would like us to look at, or ones you know who are interested in our congregation. Please tell them to submit their PIF to the Presbytery CLC. (Don't worry, if they're a Presbytery pastor they'll know what the  acronyms mean.)
The PNC is transitioning from describing our congregation and the leadership we're looking for, to assessing pastors who are interested in our church or meet our criteria. Soon we'll start narrowing candidates. It's an exciting time for the PNC and we still need your prayers. We're getting closer to our next pastor for LFPPC!

Per Capita for 2023 is $47.13 per church member.  If you are a registered Member of LFPPC please consider making a donation to cover your Per Capita costs. This is the amount of money that our church gives directly to Presbytery to help support it's administrative structure. You can simply make a donation to the church and label it for Per Capita.  For more info:

PEPITAS
The Nursery and rooms 206, 208, 210 and 212 have now gotten all new windows!!  Thank you Pepitas for spearheading this project.  These rooms are now safer for all of us and much more energy efficient.
Volunteers Wanted

Online Hospitality

Looking for a semi tech savy individual who is willing to be a greeter and monitor for the streaming service on Sundays. Doesn't have to be an every Sunday commitment.  Please let Jamie know if you would be willing to keep an eye on the comments online and possibly report technical difficulties.
Love Your Neighbor

Food Pantry
Our Little Food Pantry is getting lots of action. Grab-and-Go items seem to be the most popular such as: granola bars, individual size nuts, pop-top cans, beans etc. Items that require significant preparation are less utilized. Donations can be left in the bin across from Fellowship Hall.

Neighbor-to-Neighbor
Neighbor-to-Neighbor is our Deacon's sponsored program to support our congregation members with meals or rides as needed. We currently have a larger number of folks willing to provide meals but would appreciate a few more volunteers to provide rides to occasional medical appointments. If you are able to help, please contact Rocky Meredith at 206.310.6399 or rocmer@comcast.net.

Please be in prayer for the following individuals:  Melody and Jerry Swenson (son's passing), Diane Clowers (Dave Provan's passing), Nancy Robison (health), Ruth Honour, Garry Arnold, George Dewey, Hannah Tran, Kathryn Heley, Kathleen Tade, Robin Gabbert, Travis Zapalac. Please contact the church office at 206-364-2712 or your pastors if you have prayer requests.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is now meeting monthly. If you would like to be part of this ministry and knit or crochet or if you know of someone going through a hard time that would enjoy receiving a Prayer Shawl, contact Anne Gowing at 206-910-8505.
