Love in Action Community Service Fair
This fair is an event we do to help local organizations. Most of our outreach in this parish is collaboration with others in the community, and given our size, and the desire to be as effective as possible this is a good idea. I hope all of us support a local organization that shows compassion to our neighbor if not several.
The Love in Action Community Service Fair is our effort to recruit others to volunteer and support these local collaborators in compassion. And the goal is to get people from across the community. Most people learn of service opportunities at their house of worship but 70% of Lumpkin County residents have no house of worship. These are the people we are hoping to serve.
We have the cakes! We have the ice cream! (Thank you Barbara Dawson, Kristi Armijo and all who have committed to bring them.) People have wonderfully volunteered. We have the set up, take down and parking lot arranged, (Thank you Ben Wallace) We have many other things locked down. (Thank you Vikke and Anya Ford, Melissa Lach, Pat Harmon and others.) We have not yet completely organized the server schedule but that is next and we have a long list of people who have already volunteered. All the logistical information will be coming out soon.
Right now the main help we need is getting the word out! If you use Facebook at all please go and like, comment and share the event. Here is the link: LINK Every time you like, comment, or share a post from the church on Facebook you say it is important and Facebook will show it to more people.
The main thing to say is that this event is going to be a lot of fun, and it is a way that we can be the face of Christ to others, and it is an opportunity for us to see the face of Christ in them! Thanks be go God.
Have a blessed week,
Father John+

Consider Education for Ministry (EfM) to…
Deepen your Christian faith.
Learn how to articulate that faith.
Let that faith inspire you into action!
Through study, prayer, and reflection, trained mentors facilitate small group discussions and guide participants to examine life through an increasingly informed and inspired theological lens. More than Bible study, EfM participants read and discuss the Old Testament (year 1), the New Testament (year 2), Church history (year 3), and theology (year 4). You do not have to commit to all four program years nor complete in four years.
Georgia Mountains Convocation EFM group meets virtually (on Zoom) every other Monday (starting September 11 th ) from 9:00 am – Noon.
If interested in joining EFM, please contact Father John or Judy Strickland

Memorials Opportunities
The Vestry is considering adding cedar shutters to the front of the church to bring it in line with the back of the church and make the front of the church more appealing. We have a contribution of the labor to make the shutters but we need to buy the materials. Would anyone see this as a fitting memorial for a loved one?
The Vestry is also considering a professionally made attractive permanent sign for the prayer tree. This ministry continues to serve our community. This also is an available memorial opportunity.
If you are interested please contact Gladys by phone or email. Thanks.

Thanks to Suzanne Ryerson, Bill Lach, Ben Wallace, Mike Duke, Pat Harman, Lisa and John Stewart!
These parishioners volunteered an hour or two of their Saturday to help enhance nature around the front of the church. Main tasks were spreading mulch, trimming and cleaning after. Many thanks to each of them! Special thanks to Lisa and John for the extra work throughout the month and leading the group effort.

Flame Azalea
Regarded as one of the most beautiful of spring-blooming trees and shrubs, the Flame Azalea is a spectacular native shrub with showy flowers in perfect clusters. As blooms emerge in landscapes and forests, their bright color seems to turn the scenery aglow. How fortunate we are in North Georgia to have such gorgeous living art. - Rosalie Jensen
