MEET THE CAMP SQUAD: ADE, ELISE + JANUARY
We're so excited about the team of ~40 all-around experts we've put together to teach, inspire, and care for our campers this summer at Amplify. So, of course we want to tell the world about them! Meet ADE, who joins us this summer as VOCALS INSTRUCTOR 🎤

"I’ve been singing since I was little in church choirs and started in elementary band playing clarinet, then moved to percussion... When I shifted my major to music, my focus became completely on voice, jazz and performance. With NYC as my classroom, I got to study with some of my favorite vocal coaches and instrumentalists, dove into theory and technique and spent so much free time going to workshops throughout the city. After school, I lived, learned, and worked in Harlem, performed in a few theater productions, sang a lot of “jazz” and got to meet and hear so many people I’d read about in biographies...

My summer camp experience began in Georgia 4-H as a 5th grader. I later started helping with my local chapter, eventually became a junior counselor at various summer camps and served as a counselor for the Rock Eagle 4-H Center summer camp program, which was a dream at the time. Beyond this, I simply love all things nature and outdoors. I love composing new melodies and themes, so you’ll find me either writing songs, dancing, doing yoga and overall enjoying life. I’ve recently returned to my drum origins so I’m practicing percussion a lot these days. This is my first summer with Amplify and I am truly looking forward to meeting everyone!"
Meet ELISE, who joins us this summer as DRUMS INSTRUCTOR 🥁

"I have been playing music since before I could remember and I have been playing drums for about 10 years now! Music is my all-time passion in life and I couldn't imagine my life without it. I am originally from Boulder/Denver Colorado, but I currently go to school at UC San Diego. I am studying Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts of Computer Music and Music Technology...which is basically just a fancy term for music with computers. I am currently in a band called The Diz and playing shows around California is one of my favorite things to do. I also enjoy skateboarding, rock climbing and just spending time outside with friends or at the beach.

This is my first year working at Amplify and I couldn't be more excited!!! I attended a Girls Rock camp in Denver when I was 14 and 15 years old and it fundamentally changed how I view music, playing music with other people, and how I'm so excited to be a part of such an uplifting and inspiring organization and I'm stoked for such a fun summer!!"
Meet JANUARY, who returns this summer as HEAD COUNSELOR 😎

"I'm thrilled to be returning for my 7th year at Amplify, marking my 4th year as a counselor after many years as a camper! I'm an activist, writer, and music buff with a passion for human rights and amateur botany. Every summer I most look forward to leading elective activities alongside fellow counselors to enrich the lives and minds of the campers at Amplify, as I firmly believe that children are the future.

I'm a fourth-year Literature major at UC Santa Cruz, in pursuit of a career in teaching, and a proud member of the Coastal Band of the Chumash Nation local to Santa Barbara, California."
MEET THE WHOLE SQUAD
BE OUR HOST
Do you like dinner? So do we! We're looking for a few of our community members to be our gracious hosts for what we call EMPOWER HER DINNERS this year: small home dinners lasting 2–3 hours with 10–20 of your more generously philanthropic friends/friends of friends/colleagues/etc., where we introduce them to the wonderful world of Amplify and hopefully convince them to share their wealth with our youth, mission, programs...

Yes, these are intimate FUNDRAISING events! The goal at each dinner is to raise about $10,000 across all guests. We'll help you with every step of the process: guest list, invitations/RSVPs, menu, "run of show," live entertainment, signage, whatever you need. (We do ask that hosts cover dinner/beverages, but we can definitely talk here; we know some good hook-ups.)

If you're curious about helping us out in this way and live ANYWHERE on the West Coast, especially Central or Southern CA, let's absolutely talk! It takes a village to empower 500+ youth every year through music education, the creative arts, community, and positive mentorship, but with rad squad members like YOU, we know we can do it. Hit us (Jess in particular!) anytime to chat more: jess@amplifyartsproject.org, 818.388.3251

SPEAKING OF FUNDRAISING...
Do you work somewhere cool? Do they want to help change the world? We're always looking for great, like-minded CORPORATE SPONSORS, and we're willing to bet many of you work with some such companies! From in-kind services like software (hello, Adobe 😏) to classic monetary contributions, good help is good help, and we need it.

If you work with or have a similar close/personal relationship with a great company we can give some great PR and many other perks, in exchange for support in empowering the next generation of female artists and leaders, let's talk! jess@amplifyartsproject.org, 818.388.3251

A WEEK OR 2 AT CAMP JUST ISN'T ENOUGH SOMETIMES
Before the dust settles from cars pulling away after dropoff, campers have already made new friends and become part of the Amplify family. But, learning how to rock out on the drums, produce sick beats, photograph, write killer songs, etc. is not so instantaneous. To provide sufficient time for these new interests and skills to blossom (not to mention all the other benefits of more camp time, like forming healthy, lifelong bonds, taking a break from devices, directing their own development...), we RECOMMEND 4 WEEKS for most campers, especially first-timers.

So, why do we offer shorter sessions at all and not just 4-week sessions? Just because campers are ready to dive into Amplify for 4+ weeks doesn’t mean parents are! Opting into only 1 or 2 weeks gives families a camp test-run, preparing them for even more adventure and fun the next summer.

If you’re unsure what duration is the best fit for you, please reach out anytime. After 10+ years and 11,500+ kiddos, we know a thing or 2 about this stuff 😉 Perhaps most excitingly, sleep away campers who come 4+ weeks get to embark on... EXCLUSIVE OVERNIGHT CAMPING + ADVENTURE TRIPS! More deets below.
