Robert discovering our new neighbors!

The tiny milkweed plant Robert is pointing to is one of the 614 milkweed plants feeding our new residents.

We discovered monarch caterpillars of various sizes and stages in their voracious journey to consume milkweed.

These adorable creatures are so single focused that they can attempt to consume the foot of a neighbor if in the way.

Meet Waldo

We have touchdown! Named after the ever elusive “Where’s Waldo” character… and boy is this guy hungry!

This is no frills. You come in, water, and weed and then go about your day.

To join our bimonthly Hero sessions, click on the image below. You will get a follow up email asking you to fill out a waiver that will remain in place for the length of the project or until you cancel.

SUNDAY,JULY 16TH, 9:00AM

Our friend Antonio Sanchez, from the Santa Monica Mountains Fund, Native Plant Nursery, will be coming to do another talk along with a FREE Milkweed Giveaway on one of our scheduled maintenance days.

We’ll start a little earlier at 9am, do some watering and light weeding, get some instruction and some plants. You’ll learn how to plant in your backyards or in containers at home.

SUBMIT SOME ART!

This is an important part of our project. It gives butterfly heroes a way to connect with this incredible species at a very personal level. Your art work and name will be displayed on the website so get to making some art. You can use the templates on the link or just create your own. Follow the simple instructions to submit and that’s it!
